decoration removal deadline
The Board of Trustees of Fort Meigs Union Cemetery
asks that all decorations and flowers be removed
from cemetery grounds by November 9, 2012, to allow
for fall clean-up. Cemetery personnel will remove remaining
items. Winter decorations may be placed on
graves starting November 23, 2012.

at St. George Cathedral Nov. 16
A wine tasting dinner and
silent auction will be presented
by St. George Cathedral
on Friday, November 16,

tasting of an assortment of
wines, foods and desserts.

Life Line Screening will

10.
Stroke is the third leading
cause of death and a leading
cause of permanent disability.
A total of 80 percent of stroke
victims had no apparent
warning signs prior to their
stroke.
Life Line Screening offers
preventive ultrasound screenings
to help individuals avoid
a stroke. Screenings are fast,
noninvasive, painless, affordable
and convenient.
Screenings identify potential
cardiovascular conditions
such as blocked arteries and
irregular heart rhythm, abdominal
aortic aneurysms,
and hardening of the arteries
in the legs, which is a strong
predictor of heart disease. A
bone density screening to assess
osteoporosis risk also is
offered and is appropriate for
both men and women.
Packages start at $149. All
five screenings take 60 to 90
minutes to complete.

Veterans, their spouses

a chili luncheon on Sunday,

patty or link sausage, French
toast with warm fruit toppings,

The meal is free for veterans

St. Patrick of Heatherdowns,

its 22nd annual fall bazaar on
Saturday, November 10,
from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Crafts include jewelry,
seasonal décor and gifts, pop
can airplanes, clay critters,
wood furniture, scrapbooking,
handcrafted cards, handbags,
and more.
Parking and admission
are free. Food and refreshments
will be available.
There will be a 50/50 raffle
and face painting for children.

Obituary
•WALTER STACHOWICZ
Walter “Beans” Stachowicz,
89, died Thursday,
November 1, 2012. He was
born July 17, 1923, in Rossford,
where he lived most of
his life. For the past six
months, he resided in
Shelby, North Carolina, near
his son and family.
He graduated from Rossford
High School, served his
country in World War II,
being decorated with a Purple
Heart, and worked at
Libby-Owens-Ford for 35
years.
He was an avid fan of the
Detroit Tigers.
Mr. Stachowicz is survived
by his daughter, Celia
(John) Blanchong; son,
Scott (Lisa) Stachowicz;
grandchildren, Tammy
(Greg) Liakos, Matthew
Blanchong, Gina, Sam, Alec
and Liana Stachowicz, and
great-grandchildren, Nick
and Jack Liakos. He was
preceded in death by his
wife of 60 years, Rita.
The family will receive
friends on Friday, November
9, from 9 to 11 a.m., at
All Saints Catholic Church,
628 Lime City Road, Rossford,
followed by a funeral
mass at 11 a.m., celebrated
by the Rev. Joseph Steinbauer.
Arrangements were
made by the Sujkowski Funeral
Home of Rossford.
