Elżbieta Zwolińska, studied musicology at Warsaw University in 1962–67,<br />

obtaining the title <strong>of</strong> Doctor <strong>of</strong> Human Sciences on the basis <strong>of</strong> her musicological<br />

work in 1977. She completed academic internships at the universities <strong>of</strong> Vienna<br />

(1972) and Utrecht (1977–78). For the years 1985–87 she was granted an<br />

Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung scholarship to study at the Johannes Gutenberg<br />

University <strong>of</strong> Mainz. Elżbieta Zwolińska was on the faculty <strong>of</strong> the Institute<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>Musicology</strong>, University <strong>of</strong> Warsaw from 1967 till her retirement in 2011. She<br />

was Deputy Head <strong>of</strong> the Institute in 1999–2002 and headed the Faculty <strong>of</strong> <strong>Polish</strong><br />

Music History in 2004–11. She held lectures, seminars and classes on early<br />

European music, <strong>Polish</strong> music history, methodology <strong>of</strong> teaching music history,<br />

counterpoint and harmony, as well as workshops <strong>of</strong> source studies, etc. Her academic<br />

interests include: medieval, Renaissance and Baroque musical culture and<br />

compositions, <strong>Polish</strong> music history, source studies and paleography.
