Piotr Dahlig, ethnomusicologist, Professor of the University of Warsaw, works
at UW Institute of Musicology and at the Institute of Art of the Polish Academy
of Sciences. He has published four books: Muzyka ludowa we współczesnym
społeczeństwie [Folk music in contemporary society] (Warsaw 1987); Ludowa
praktyka muzyczna w komentarzach i opiniach wykonawców Polsce [Folk music
practice in the comments and opinions of performers in Poland] (Warsaw
1993); Tradycje muzyczne a ich przemiany. Między kulturą ludową, popularną
i elitarną Polski międzywojennej [Musical traditions and their transformations.
Between the folk, popular and elite cultures of interwar Poland] (Warsaw 1998);
Muzyka Adwentu. Tradycja gry na ligawkach [Music of Advent. The tradition of
playing on ligawka wooden horns] (Warszawa 2003); and 120 articles, mainly
on traditional ethnic music and folk instruments, mostly the result of his field
research in Poland since 1975.
Bożena Muszkalska is professor of the Department of Musicology of Wrocław
University and of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznan. She has carried
out numerous projects associated with field research in Poland, Sardinia, Portugal,
Belarus, Lithuania, Rumanian Bukovina, Ukraine, Siberia and Brazil. She is
the author of a number of books i.a. Traditionelle mehrstimmige Gesänge der Sarden
(Poznań, 1985), Tradycyjna wielogłosowość wokalna w kulturach basenu
Morza Śródziemnego [Traditional polyvocality in cultures of the Mediterranean
Basin] (Poznań, 1999). She also has many articles to her name, mostly on polyvocal
singing, music in religious contexts and methodological problems.
