When you arrive at the hospital:
Minor Surgery is located on the Ground
floor, East Wing. Enter through the
Tranquility Entrance and follow the signs
to the Eye Clinic and Minor Surgery
Registration Desk.

Minor Surgery - Patient Instructions
FOR YOUR VISIT
1. On the day of your surgery there is
no food restrictions,you can eat
normally.
2. Wear comfortable clothing that can
be removed easily.
3. If you do not speak English,
please bring an adult with you who
is able to translate in your
language.
4. You will receive a local anaesthetic
or “freezing” in the area where
your procedure will be performed.
5. With a few exceptions, most
patients may leave shortly after
their surgery.
6. Please report to the Registration
Desk for Minor Surgery and Eye
Clinic, 15 to 30 minutes before
your appointment.
7. The hospital is not responsible for
any loss or damage of personal
items or clothing.
8. Late arrivals may have their
procedure cancelled.
9. Please notify your surgeon’s office
48 hours in advance if you wish to
change or cancel an appointment.

Surgery time may be subject to
change.
After Your Procedure:
Your doctor will give instructions to you.
Please bring the following
information with you on the
day of your surgery:
• Your hospital Blue Card. You will
be asked to check your card to
ensure all of the information is
accurate and the spelling is correct.
• Your Ontario Health Card
• Your date of birth
• Your family/referring doctor’s name
and address
PLEASE BE AWARE THAT:
SJHC is a Smoke-Free facility.
SMOKING IS
NOT PERMITTED
on hospital
property.
The use of cellular phones is
PERMITTED within the
hospital in designated areas.
There are signs
that indicate the
areas where the
use of wireless
devices is NOT
PERMITTED.
