EVERYOnE HAS A mORAL<br />
OBLIGATIOn to make a difference.<br />
This is not only what James and<br />
Juliette mcneil believe, it is how<br />
they live. The couple donated to the<br />
<strong>Inova</strong> Heart and Vascular Institute in<br />
2004 and James is the former chair<br />
of the quality committee at <strong>Inova</strong><br />
mount Vernon Hospital. Recently,<br />
the community-minded pair pledged<br />
a generous leadership gift to the<br />
hospital’s Campus Renovation<br />
Project. The capital campaign will<br />
extend the third tower, add 60 new<br />
private rooms, create two additional<br />
operating suites and enlarge the first<br />
floor by 12,800 square feet—further<br />
enhancing the hospital’s services.<br />
In 1984, James founded mcneil<br />
Technologies, Inc. The company<br />
grew exponentially, providing<br />
professional and technical services<br />
to federal and state agencies. In 2004,<br />
the company was sold to Veritas<br />
Capital. Two years later, James chose<br />
to retire and focus on the couple’s<br />
many charitable endeavors. Juliette<br />
had a very successful career with the<br />
Federal Government, retiring in 2004<br />
as a member of the Senior Executive<br />
Service. She said, “<strong>Inova</strong> has a value<br />
system similar to <strong>our</strong>s. no one is<br />
turned away who is in dire need<br />
of services. That is something we<br />
wanted to be a part of.”<br />
<strong>Inova</strong> mount Vernon Hospital<br />
anticipates ground-breaking this<br />
spring. meanwhile, James and<br />
Juliette look forward to their<br />
daughter, Ashley’s, upcoming<br />
wedding. Working with their<br />
foundation, she is following in her<br />
parents’ philanthropic footsteps.<br />
