COMMUNITY NEWS is the offi cial newsletter of the Highland Park Community Association Proudly published by: Best Service Best Quality Best Value www.calgaryarea.com/nw/highlandpk/highlandpark.htm President’s Message As you know, the HPCA members voted to continue to lease our hall from the City and plan to arrange a sub-lease with another group provided we can get that all arranged by December 31 of this year. Having made this decision gives us certain rights, but it also demands of us certain responsibilities. Having our own community hall gives us the right to hold community events at the hall for little to no charge if we wish. Examples of these events would be dinners, family movies, Earth Day celebrations, BBQs, Music in the Park, meetings about development issues, Wine & Cheese events, etc. Anne Naumann However, our responsibilities that come with having our own hall include the repairs and maintenance of the hall. And, because we are a nonprofi t volunteer-run organization we need to save money where we can by doing many of the hall maintenance and repair tasks with volunteers from the community doing the work and sourcing the supplies to do the work. So, from time to time we will ask for your help to do various tasks or help at a Work Bee. We’d like you to commit to helping where you can, and maybe you can bring a neighbour or a relative to help as well.
