AWARDS TO RECOGNIZE ACCOMPLISHMENT The accomplishment of high school music students can be recognized via an awards program available through the Iowa High School Music Association. Pins and medals are available for individuals and plaques recognize the accomplishment of larger ensembles. Division I pins/medals feature a blue ribbon and insert on a gold background; Division II pins/medals feature a red ribbon and insert on a silver background; Division III pins/medals feature a white ribbon and insert on a bronze background. All-State: The Iowa High School Music Association of fers plaques for schools to honor students accepted for participation in the All-State Music Festival. The awards program is pictured below. Order forms are provided at each festival sponsored by the Iowa High School Music Association. Order forms are also available on our website at www.ihsma.org. -6-
EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTIONS There is one position on the Executive Committee up for election this fall. Steve Colton, Marion, has completed one term on the Executive Committee and will not be seeking reelection. This position, Instrumental Music Representative (High School band or orchestra) is open for election, term ending 2009. Nomination blanks for this vacancy will be mailed August 20, 2004, and must be received by the Election Board by September 3, 2004. The top two candidates, plus ties, will be named as nominees for this position. The Of ficial Ballot, with the qualified nominees’ names printed thereon, will be mailed to member schools on September 17, 2004. The chair of the Elections Board must receive the election ballots by October 1, 2004. The newly elected member will assume duties upon notification of election by the Executive Director.
