CONDUCT OF PARTICIPANTS/DIRECTORS<br />

It is the clear responsibility of participating students, directors, and administrators to practice<br />

the highest ideals of cooperation and the ethics of competition. <strong>The</strong> audition host or<br />

festival manager has the authority to take whatever immediate steps might be necessary in<br />

instances of questionable conduct. <strong>The</strong> Executive Committee shall have full authority to<br />

penalize any member school whose representatives may be, in the opinion of the Committee,<br />

guilty of neglecting this responsibility.<br />

ALL-STATE MUSIC CAMP GUIDELINES<br />

Any person/agency/institution hosting an All-State <strong>Music</strong> Camp within the State of <strong>Iowa</strong><br />

must comply with the following criteria which have been developed to insure a consistent,<br />

equal opportunity for camp operators/sponsors and participating students:<br />

1) Any All-State <strong>Music</strong> Camp desiring to function within the state of <strong>Iowa</strong> must obtain the<br />

annual written approval of the IHSMA of fice prior to sending out any notification to<br />

schools.<br />

2) Copies of any promotional material related to the camp (fliers, brochures, letters, etc.)<br />

must accompany the camps written request for approval.<br />

3) <strong>No</strong> vocal camp may begin operations prior to <strong>August</strong> 1.<br />

4) Camps are encouraged to rehearse only with the supplied materials; i.e., pronunciations,<br />

rehearsal directions, etc., provided with the music/Association bulletin. Telephone<br />

calls should not be directed to the All-State Chair, All-State Conductor or the<br />

Executive Director of the IHSMA.<br />

5) Camp fees cannot include the purchase of the employed music. Obtaining the All-<br />

State music remains the responsibility of the member school.<br />

6) <strong>No</strong> camps will be approved for 2005 until af ter the April 19, 2005 joint meeting of the<br />

IMEA Executive Board, the IHSMA Executive Committee, and the All-State Chairs at<br />

which time item number 2 above will be reviewed.<br />

ALL-STATE FESTIVAL<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Iowa</strong> All-State <strong>Music</strong> Festival is jointly sponsored and staf fed by the IHSMA and IMEA<br />

to provide a state-wide selective festival for the instrumental and choral high school musicians<br />

of <strong>Iowa</strong>.<br />

ELIGIBILITY<br />

In addition to the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Association Constitution, Article VI, Section 1,<br />

participation is restricted to students from schools that are members of the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong><br />

<strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Association and enrolled in grades 9-12 only. Auditioning students must be<br />
