ALL-STATE FESTIVAL DIRECTOR<br />

The All-State Festival Director shall:<br />

1. Reserve the registration, audition and Festival dates.<br />

2. Contract with the three guest conductors following the joint IMEA/IHSMA board meeting.<br />

3. Arrange for audition centers and managers.<br />

4. Prepare the <strong>Fall</strong> <strong>Bulletin</strong> materials after the summer IHSMA board meeting.<br />

5. Issue instructions to the audition site managers, and Festival Chairs.<br />

6. Arrange with the hotels for housing of student participants/respective teachers.<br />

7. Reserve and provide housing for:<br />

a. Guest conductors<br />

b. All-State Chairs<br />

8. Assign and provide housing for IHSMA and IMEA board members who chaperone properties<br />

used for All-State student participants.<br />

9. Issue complimentary tickets.<br />

10. Arrange publicity.<br />

11. Register the members of the All-State Band, All-State Chorus, and All-State Orchestra when they<br />

arrive at the Festival.<br />

12. Arrange for ticket sales.<br />

13. Arrange student recreation for Friday night (optional).<br />

14. Approve in advance all miscellaneous expenditures.<br />

15. Call a joint meeting of the Executive Board of the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Educators Association, the Executive<br />

Committee of the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Association, and the All-State Chairs and Chairselect.<br />

The purpose of this meeting is to select the guest conductors.<br />

16. Discuss and seek input to make formal decisions on items regarding philosophy, policies and direction<br />

of the All-State Festival.<br />

17. Arrange for assembling and printing of the All-State Festival concert program.<br />

18. Accept student registration entries, fees, choral orders, and purchase choral music.<br />

19. Arrange for the audition and selection of student pianists, organists, and harpists in coordination<br />

with the appropriate All-State Chairs.<br />

20. Assume responsibility for coordinating the efforts and schedules of the All-State Chairs, and participating<br />

students at the time of the All-State Festival.<br />

21. Prepare and distribute to the IHSMA and IMEA boards the final report of All-State Participation<br />

and finances.<br />

Three-Year Term, Term starts and ends after IMEA Annual Conference (<strong>No</strong>vember)<br />

Elected by IMEA General Membership, re-election allowed<br />
