RECORDING POLICIES OF THE IHSMA<br />

Recording services are provided for the All-State Festival. Cameras and recorders will not be permitted in<br />

the performance area for this event.<br />

Personal video cameras will be permitted at the State Marching Band Festival, Show Choir/Jazz Choir/Jazz<br />

Band Festival, Solo/Small Ensemble Festival, and Large Group Festival; however, the site management may<br />

designate a specific area from which to record. In performance areas where congestion is a concern, only<br />

small hand-held video cameras will be allowed (no tripods). US Copyright Law permits each performer<br />

the privilege of archiving their performance. US Copyright does not allow the sale of this video footage to<br />

anyone, or the distribution of this video footage to any non-performer.<br />

The IHSMA will not utilize personal audio or videotapes in disputes over a judge's ruling.<br />

REGISTRATION INFORMATION<br />

INTENT TO REGISTER: Enclosed with this bulletin is an “INTENT TO REGISTER” card. The IHSMA<br />

requests its completion and return. This card will provide information relative to the programs in which<br />

each school intends participation. On the day following the fi nal day of any registration period, the<br />

IHSMA offi ce will fax or email a reminder to schools who have declared intent to participate, and from<br />

whom no entry has been received. This is done so that any additional penalties may be avoided.<br />

IHSMA REGISTRATION/PENALTY POLICY: Events sponsored by the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong><br />

Association have established registration deadlines. Both the Registration Deadline and the Penalty<br />

Deadline are online purchase order/check number submission deadlines. Entries submitted online after<br />

the online pur-chase order/check number registration submission deadline must include the standard<br />

registration fee for that particular group or individual PLUS the 50% penalty fee (to a MAXIMUM of<br />

$25.00). Once the penalty online purchase order/check number submission deadline has passed,<br />

schools may still register for participation by paying the following additional penalties: Marching Band<br />

- $100.00 per entry; All-State - $100.00 per student; Show Choir/Jazz Choir/Jazz Band - $100.00 per<br />

entry; Large Group - $100.00 per entry; Solo/Small Ensemble - $20 per entry. These late entries will<br />

be scheduled at the convenience of the festival host.<br />

ACT TESTING CONFLICTS<br />

Directors should be alerted to the dates of the ACT tests for the upcoming school term. Careful planning<br />

will avoid confl icts with IHSMA festival dates. The October 22nd date confl icts with All-State<br />

Auditions and the April 14 date confl icts with our Class 1A/4A Solo/Small Ensemble Festival.<br />
