Mrs. Gribbons announced that the <strong>2011</strong> conductor of the All-State Orchestra will be Dr.<br />
William LaRue Jones from the University of <strong>Iowa</strong>. This will be Dr. Jones 6 th appearance<br />
as a conductor of this Orchestra.<br />
All three chairs expressed their thanks to Donna Barr and Alan Greiner for professional<br />
work and assistance in attending to the details of this festival and to the audition managers<br />
from the six sites used by the All-State Festival.<br />
Director Greiner reviewed the concert order for the <strong>2011</strong> festival and reiterated the audition<br />
date as October 22, <strong>2011</strong> and the fi nale dates as <strong>No</strong>vember 17-19, <strong>2011</strong>.<br />
The Director provided recommendations from the ICDA Liaison Committee:<br />
• to raising the maximum number of entries from 28 to 36<br />
• to begin the concert at 6:30 or 7:00 PM<br />
There was no interest in pursuing either of these recommendations and the topics were<br />
dropped for lack of a formal motion.<br />
MMS (Law/Kroese) to adopt the Method for Bassoon by J. Weissenborn/Bettoney as the<br />
new etude book for bassoon auditions. PASSED<br />
MMS (Law/Kroese) to adopt the proposed Concert Dress for the All-State Band. PASSED<br />
MMS (Law/Stogdill) to adopt the proposed scale requirements for string instruments.<br />
PASSED<br />
Director Greiner spoke to issues of audience behavior during the concert with regard to<br />
banners and fl ash photography. It was determined that the tickets for the concert would<br />
no longer be issued behind the All-State Band and Orchestra and that any banners displayed<br />
during the concert or brought in Hilton Coliseum the night of the concert would be<br />
confi scated and not returned.<br />
MMS (Law/Philgreen) to approve the slate of conductors as presented for the Chorus,<br />
Band, and Orchestra. PASSED<br />
MMS (Aboud/Lettow) to approve the amended All-State sponsorship agreement between<br />
the IMEA and the IHSMA. PASSED<br />
Next meeting date was set for Wednesday evening April 25, 2012.<br />
MMS (Stogdill/Law) to adjourn PASSED<br />
