MINUTES OF THE JOINT MEETING OF THE IMEA EXECUTIVE BOARD, IHSMA EX-
ECUTIVE COMMITTEE, AND ALL-STATE CHAIRS
April 27, 2011
The Executive Committee of the Iowa High School Music Association and the Executive
Board of the Iowa Music Educators Association met in joint session on Wednesday, April
27, 2011, in Boone, Iowa. Representing the IMEA were Martha Kroese, Cedar Falls;
Kendra Leisinger, Ankeny; David Law, Marion. Absent were Scott Rieker, Des Moines;
and Shirley Luebke, Sioux City. Representing the IHSMA were Susan Stogdill, Malvern;
Kathy Elliott, Panora; Jim Fritz, Decorah; Duane Philgreen, Manchester; and Mike
Teigland, Indianola. Absent was Todd Lettow, Hampton. Also in attendance were Chris
Crandell, All-State Band Chair; Mary Citta, All-State Chorus Chair; Jackie Burk All-State
Chorus Chair-elect and Alan Greiner, Executive Director of the IHSMA. Absent was Ann
Gribbins, All-State Orchestra Chair. IHSMA President Jim Fritz chaired the meeting. Alan
Greiner served as recording secretary.
The Chair called the meeting to order at 6:36 p.m.
Mary Citta presented a report of the 2010 All-State Chorus. Mrs. Citta praised the work
of the All-State Chorus and their director Dr. Craig Arnold and cited him as an exceptional
teacher and musician.
She announced that Mr. Bruce Rogers, Director of Choral Activities at Mt. San Antonio
College, Walnut CA would be serving as the conductor of the 2011 festival. She announced
that the music release date would be July 25, 2011 and that he would be present
at the ICDA Summer Convention for the All-State Choral Music reading session.
There were no proposed changes for the coming year, vocally. Mrs. Citta announced that
Jackie Burk, Belmond has been elected as the All-State Chorus Chair beginning with the
2012 Festival.
Chris Crandell presented a written report of the 2010 All-State Band. Mr. Crandell cited
the outstanding work of Dr. Myron Welch and the All-State Band. He expressed his appreciation
for the efforts of his assistants, Myron Peterson, Urbandale; Thad Driskell,
