MINUTES OF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING<br />
February 4, <strong>2011</strong><br />
The Executive Committee of the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>Music</strong> Association met in Boone, <strong>Iowa</strong><br />
at the association offi ces at 8:30 a.m. Executive Committee members present were:<br />
Todd Lettow, Hampton; Mike Teigland, Indianola; Susan Stogdill, Malvern; Jim Fritz, Decorah;<br />
Kathy Elliot, Panora; and Duane Philgreen, Manchester. Also in attendance was<br />
Alan Greiner, Executive Director who served as recording secretary. President Lehmann<br />
chaired the meeting.<br />
Jim Henkel from Henkel and Associates was on hand to provide the results of the fi nancial<br />
audit of 2009-2010 year.<br />
MMS (Elliot/Stogdill) to approve the minutes from: October 21, 2010. PASSED<br />
MMS (Teigland/Philgreen) to approve the fi nancial bills as submitted. PASSED<br />
ALL-STATE MUSIC FESTIVAL: Director Greiner presented an up-to-date fi nancial report<br />
for the 2010 festival. October 22, <strong>2011</strong> and <strong>No</strong>vember 17-19, <strong>2011</strong> will serve respectively<br />
as the audition and festival dates for next year. The CD, DVD, and T-shirt programs<br />
and their suppliers were reviewed. MMS (Teigland/Lettow) to use the same suppliers for<br />
the <strong>2011</strong> Festival. Suppliers used were: CD’s and DVD’s Comprehensive Sound and<br />
IPTV; T-Shirts – The Graphic Edge. PASSED MMS (Lettow/Elliot) to leave the current<br />
All-State Conductor Honorarium for 2013 at $2,000. PASSED The All-State Chaperone<br />
policy was reviewed for the <strong>2011</strong> festival. The All-State Chorus Quota procedure after the<br />
1 st round of chorus auditions on audition day was reviewed.<br />
SHOW-JAZZ CHOIR/JAZZ BAND FESTIVAL: The registration report was presented.<br />
This year’s event experienced a net loss in participation of 3 ensembles.<br />
PIANO FESTIVAL: The registration report was presented and a loss of 6 entries was<br />
noted. The director has been instructed to conduct a survey to the membership asking:<br />
1. If we were to combine this festival into the current solo-small ensemble festival would<br />
it adversely affect their accompanist situation. 2. Would it increase or decrease participation<br />
SOLO/SMALL ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL: MMS (Philgreen/Stogdill) to increase the vocal<br />
solo maximum performance time from 5 minutes to 6 minutes. PASSED MMS (Philgreen/<br />
Elliot) to provide directors with two options for adjudication on the adjudication form; written<br />
feedback only; both written and verbal feedback. PASSED It was also suggested that<br />
we explore adding a caption to the Judges Evaluation asking if verbal comments used<br />
and if so, were they done appropriately.<br />
