SHOW CHOIR/JAZZ CHOIR AND JAZZ BAND FESTIVALS<br />

GENERAL RULES AND REGULATIONS<br />

1. “Comments Only” performances are permitted for any ensemble. This must be indicated<br />

on adjudication forms when returned to the festival site manager.<br />

2. Show Choirs and Jazz Bands shall use the P.A. equipment provided which will consist<br />

of five microphones to be used at the discretion of the director. Jazz Choirs are<br />

permitted to bring their own sound equipment and technician (an eligible student).<br />

3. A tuned acoustical piano will be the only provided instrument in either the warm-up<br />

facility or festival center.<br />

4. Participants must stop as soon as the official timekeeper gives the signal indicating<br />

the end of the performance time. <strong>The</strong> rating of those ensembles who do not stop<br />

when the signal is given shall be withheld until the matter has been referred to the<br />

Executive Director.<br />

5. Participants may provide scores for the judges’ usage, but must supply three sets of<br />

scores, if any. Individual schools will accept the responsibility for the legality of their<br />

chosen program arrangements.<br />

6. Adjudication forms were sent to directors with registration forms. <strong>The</strong>y may also be<br />

downloaded from our web site: www.ihsma.org. Directors are to complete the upper<br />

portion of these forms and forward them directly to your FESTIVAL SITE MANAGER<br />

by the date indicated below. Do not send adjudication forms to the <strong>Iowa</strong> <strong>High</strong> <strong>School</strong><br />

Music Association. <strong>January</strong> 2, <strong>2002</strong>, will serve as the return date for the <strong>January</strong> 12<br />

festival; <strong>January</strong> 16, <strong>2002</strong>, will serve as the return date for the <strong>January</strong> 26 festival and<br />

<strong>January</strong> 18 for the <strong>January</strong> 28 festival.<br />

7. Minimum and maximum performer numbers are interpreted to mean “at any one<br />

time.” Students can be alternated between numbers; however, non-participants must<br />

remain an appropriate distance from the performing ensemble.<br />
