The Cosmetology Program accepts new students
twice in the spring session, once in the
summer session and twice in the fall session.
Enrollment in the program is on a space availability
only and is based on continuous enrollment.
The curriculum prepares students to seek
employment as cosmetologists in the beauty
field. The program includes all phases of cosmetology.
Upon successful completion of the
program (1,600 hours), a student is eligible to
take the California State
Board of Barbering and
Cosmetology Examination
for licensure as a cosmetologist.
A student must
have good finger dexterity
and coordination and show
evidence of good physical
and emotional health. A
kit, books, tuition and uniform are required for
the program. The cost of these items is approximately
$2,000.00 and will be needed the
first week of school. The approximate cost of
the overall program is $2,800.00. Prices are
subject to change at any time. A student who is
dropped from a cosmetology class for unsafe
practices and/or inappropriate conduct, or
withdraws twice from the course, and/or drops
twice for excessive absences is not eligible to reenroll
except upon approval of the department
chair.
