Plug and Get ready to be up and running faster than ever before with the TOMRA UNO. beginning in the first quarter of 2007, UNO will be equipped with GPRS mobile communication technology as standard–providing the possibility for true “plug and play” operation. <strong>Uno</strong> UNO is a compact, free-standing, all-in-one reverse vending machine that can accept all container types. This machine has been specifically developed by TOMRA to provide a convenient return solution for small stores and gas stations. A new lease on life with leasing? Interested in benefiting from new reverse vending equipment but short on capital? Leasing can be a smart alternative. Leasing in fact can offer a range of advantages as opposed to purchasing equipment. RETURN recently spoke to a store owner in Norway, Mr. Reza Darehbaghi, to hear his experience about choosing this investment alternative. RETURN: When did you decide to lease your TOMRA UNO and why? RD: Well I took over control of my store about a year ago and

What we’ve done is essentially put the guts of a mobile telephone directly on the main circuit board. The mobile subscription fee is included in our online service agreement, so the customer doesn’t have to worry about anything other than where to put the machine in the store. All they have to do is unpack it and plug it in, the machine then automatically sends an e-mail to the TOMRA operations center telling us that the machine has been activated. We then can begin configuring its database with the appropriate return parameters for that specific location. Everything is done online, so the whole installation process goes much faster at a lower cost.” for existing UNO customers that have landline connections, changing over to GPRS also makes sense. With GPRS installed the UNO is always online. This allows the machine to send an e-mail or sms when it needs to be emptied or cleaned--or even provide a report on return data. Says Sæther, “we have two options for our existing customers: we can either install a new GPRS motherboard, or the same functionality can be achieved with the existing circuit board and a small external GPRS box that is plugged in to a connection at the back of the machine. Either way, it can be done very quickly and begin providing a number of new benefits for the customer.” needed to make substantial investments throughout the store. So it wasn’t long after that I began looking into getting the UNO. At first I wanted to purchase a machine because I generally have the opinion it’s better to buy than to lease. but in this instance, due to the fact that I had so many other investments to make, the option of leasing was very favorable. RETURN: Are you satisfied with your decision? RD: Absolutely, both in terms of the financing and the machine itself. I just have to pay one monthly bill to Leasepartner, which includes both insurance and service on the machine during the leasing period. At the end of the lease period I can choose whether to buy the machine, exchange it for a new machine, or remove it.
