Principles for work item acceptance <br />
1. Activities undertaken by this subcommittee shall give priority <br />
<strong>to</strong> addressing global, multi-‐industry standardization <br />
requirements. <br />
2. Technologies will be candidate work items only where they are <br />
available under terms and conditions consistent with the ISO/<br />
IEC Patent Policy. <br />
3. Technologies will be candidate work items only where there <br />
has been a substantiated international business need. <br />
4. Technologies will be candidate work items only where there <br />
exist suitable implementation artifacts, (e.g., hardware). <br />
5. Technologies will be candidate work items only when they <br />
exhibit features or technical soundness and robustness not <br />
available with previously standardized technologies <br />
6. Public Domain should take precedence over licensed options. <br />
