“The Smoke chair is a modern version of a classical typology, the bergere
chair which is well known for smoking cigars, reading a book, etc. It’s a
loungy version that has been cut-off, stretched and lowered. The ears have
been cut-off, but the back is still high enough to rest your head. The seat
has been stretched and lowered, which results in a comfy feeling.
Smoke has been developed for and presented at the new pavilion of the
Flemish Parliament, a design of farris.schöning, a collaboration of Italian
architect Giuseppe Farris and Antwerp designer Stefan Schöning.”
