Sisland Tithe Barn Named
Reflect’s Hidden Gem
With so many charming cottages, well-appointed camp sites, luxurious
barn conversions, contemporary hotels and quaint bed and breakfasts
littered across Great Britain, it can be hard to find the best place to
enjoy a well-earned break. Awarded Reflect’s Certificate of Recognition
for Norfolk’s Hidden Gem, The Tithe Barn in Sisland, on the outskirts of
the historic city of Norwich caters for everyone.
Boasting peace, tranquillity and breathtaking vistas in abundance, The Tithe Barn is a
multi-generational holiday destination catering for the whole family – offering a luxurious
converted barn for bed and breakfast accommodation, a modern and stylish self-catering
property and ‘glamping’ in The Showman’s Wagon for the perfect way to spend a romantic
weekend under the Sisland stars. It’s somewhere the whole family can enjoy a holiday, which
is why Reflect were happy to award them with our Certificate of Recognition for Norfolk’s
Hidden Gem. Editor, Elaine Ellis, said: “Located within easy reach of Norwich, the Norfolk Broads
and the Suffolk Heritage Coast, The Tithe Barn offers the perfect gateway to discover East Anglia.
With a stunningly peaceful and picturesque location, a break to The Tithe Barn provides the perfect
opportunity to sit back and relax.”
The Tithe Barn’s owners, Jane and Lesley, added: “We are delighted to receive this recognition,
particularly as this is a totally new venture for us. It’s great to know that all the time and effort that
we’ve put in is paying off. Thank-you Reflect.”
Owl Barn
In a rural, but accessible location, Owl Barn is a stunning self-catering property offering
exceptional comfort, style and privacy. The open-plan design of the kitchen and dining area
creates a lovely airy atmosphere, complemented by contemporary home comforts including
a TV and DVD player, an iPod docking station and free Wi-Fi access. The luxury bathroom
features a modern bathroom suite and wet-room shower. A well placed skylight enables
you to relax in the bath and look up at the stars. French windows overlook the private
garden and nearby marches complete with a resident Barn Owl. Owl Barn has its own
private parking for two cars, a secluded patio and garden with comfortable furniture and a
barbecue. At present, Orchard Barn, a second self-catering property, is under construction.
The Hayloft
One of the two Bed & Breakfast rooms that opened in January 2012, The Hayloft features
exposed beams and contemporary furnishings, two TVs and an iPod docking station. The
Hayloft has an extremely restful king-sized bed with luxurious Egyptian cotton bed-linen.
The en-suite features a bath/shower, wash basin, toilet, heated towel rail and shaver point.
Also provided are free Wi-Fi access, tea and coffee making equipment, sparkling and still
water and a selection of home-made biscuits. The Tithe Barn’s award-winning breakfast uses
only the best quality, local produce and is available between 7am and 9am weekdays and
between 8am and 9:30am weekends. Dinner and a picnic menu service are also available on
request. In addition, The Tithe Barn is licensed to serve alcohol.
The Showman’s Wagon
Inspired by an original design, The Showman’s Wagon was traditionally hand-built by a
Norfolk craftsman. It offers an ideal opportunity to get away from it all. Inside, The Wagon
boasts an extending double bed (with a large storage area underneath which can double
up as a ‘secret’ children’s den or sleeping area), seating with storage lockers underneath, an
ingenious pull-out dining table and a wardrobe. A continental breakfast is delivered to your
door in the morning and a Kotlich is provided in the garden area on which to cook your
own meals. For the less adventurous cooks, meals can be provided by prior arrangement.
An adjacent shower block and toilet area provide modern facilities and, should the weather
turn inclement, guests have access to a room within the barn complete with a comfortable
sofa and widescreen TV complete with Freeview.
The brainchild of TV/radio presenter, Chris Evans, the motoring extravaganza,
CarFest, has proved so popular in its maiden year that tickets are currently
completely sold out for both the North and South shows. CarFest was thought up
by Chris Evans when he gave up bread for lent and invented the show in order to
keep himself busy.
The Show raises money for Children in Need and takes place over two days and
will feature a classic car exhibition, food festival and live rock music. The south
show will take place on August Bank Holiday weekend on August 25th and 26th
at Laverstoke Park Farm in Hampshire and the north show will take place on the
weekend of 8th and 9th September at Cholmondeley Castle, Cheshire.
On the first day of each festival, attendees wanting to sell their cars – between
£5,000 and £25,000 - will be able to put them up for auction at the ‘Pride and
Joy’ auction, the auction will take the form of an American style auction where
car owners can drive their cars on to a stage, presenting it to potential bidders.
Silverstone will also host a Sunday auction for those cars worth more than
£25,000.
In keeping with the events ‘family-fun’ theme, CarFest will have a central arena to
2012: A Great
Year For
Car Lovers
host a range of performances, including dancing JCB diggers and Segway Racing.
There will also be amazing air displays to marvel at, as a massive 105,000 cubic
feet balloon will take to the skies, weather permitting of course.
There will also be bread making classes and face painting. When it comes to food
there will be a large variety, guaranteed to appeal to all tastes – from breads,
cheeses and rolls to sausages and flans. To raise a little competitive spirit, cake
makers and pie makers will be pitted against each other. As cakes and pies are
eliminated throughout the weekend, they will be made available for visitors to
buy.
Campsites will be available at both festivals, with facilities such as water stand
pipes, toilets and showers and catering outlets will be open on the camp site
when the festival site is closed. For those preferring to ‘glamp’ rather than
camp there are 5m canvas bell tents available with fresh linen, towels and even
romantic lighting! In addition there will also be disabled camping areas and
facilities.
