UNDER 11 YELLOW REPORT
A crisp autumnal Sunday morning saw us welcome Southwick Rangers to Hampden Park with our lads fired and braced for their
first run-out in over a calendar month. Our excellent home form continues with the Saints running out worthy winners posting an
emphatic 8-2 scoreline. Three points bagged, Hampden Park now resembling something more a kin to a fortress and a classy
assured performance which helps keep us hot on the heels of Mile Oak and Hastings United, all’s well that ends well…and this was
vintage .
Ironically, Southwick were first on the score sheet with a well taken effort from their centre forward as he deftly steered the ball past
James with their first and indeed only meaningful attack of the game. Parity was quickly restored however with Josh “the fox in the
box” finding the back of the net with a well-taken effort.
Nerves settled and with the balance of the game now tipping in favour of the home side we began to press on with some delightful
football even a disallowed goal didn’t knock us from our stride. A superbly taken free kick from Dom Bastin from just outside the
left-hand side of the box saw us go into the interval 2-1 to the good.
The second half turned out to be one way traffic as the Saints worked through the gears really putting on a fine display for Robbie
who, although injured…. and to his credit, still turned up to spur on the Saints. One thing’s for sure…. he certainly went home
happy as we added to our goal tally. “The Fox” added a second, with both of our Lewis’ (Buckle and Tolson) also adding to the
‘goals for’ column with well-taken efforts…. even an extremely dubious penalty didn’t knock us off our stride…today was a good
day…that got even better.
It’s probably best to say that the best was left to last as the Ryan Molyneux show rode into town! Ryan put the game out of sight
with a blitzkrieg of a hat-trick raining down on the helpless Rangers’ keeper…so shell shocked and stunned by this display of lethal
finishing the Man of the Match award was a no brainer for Paul to call.
Football is a simple game; the hard part is making it look simple…today we achieved it. Those 11 lads (no subs again today) did us
proud…some delightful football, confidence restored and a real hunger for success…. The future’s bright…bright yellow with black
stripes!
UNDER 13 REPORT
The u13s have started to play some really good football of late but have not capitalised on their chances in front of
goal. When you see your team pass the ball around the pitch like Pros and hit double figures for attempts on goal , it's
hard to accept or fathom how they could have lost 4-0 last week. Returning to the dreaded pitch 6 where it all began
for this team 2 seasons ago now with fishing net in hand it was good to see how far this team had actually come (
Dougie didn't need to use the corner flag to fish the ball out of the ditch anymore, Paddy looked like a giant in the goal
and the crosses were whizzing from one side of the pitch to other with the greatest of ease.
The games started slowly as the haze of the sun put everyone in a chilled mood. Again the saints dominated the
possession and were unlucky not to have gone one up when a cross from Joe Simpson was somehow intercepted by
their keeper just as Calum was about to strike.
Another chance came and went again with the two linking up for a shot on target.
Ringmer looked dangerous on break but the back 4 were magnificent and didn't put a foot wrong all day. H/T score
line 0-0. Ringmer started brighter of the two and quickly scored from kick off with a long range speculative shot. Just
when we thought we would get a repeat of last week the Saints team dug deep and 1 minute later Louie put Joe
Simpson in behind the defence with a lofted pass that saw the score line read 1-1and all to play for. The second half
was real end to end stuff with the Saints determined not to lose this one. Our attacking football was emanating from
Charlie in RB and Christian at LB both dribbling the ball out of danger and having the vision to play the perfect ball to
feet or space. Then came the defining moment of the game when Joe Simpson was brought down in the box and the
ref showed no hesitation in awarding a penalty.
Had it been any other pitch then Joe would have scored his second but the ball cruelly flew over the very low cross
bar!!!!! A quick summary of the last 20minutes would read something like - Saints had lots of possession, lots of
chances and lots of dubious offside decisions. With seconds remaining Ringmer went on the attack again and would
have scored if it wasn't for the heroic efforts of Christian who cleared it off the line to the sound of a big cheer from
the home fans.
Charlie Farrow - MoM . Christian Pettit - Most Effort. 3 points next week please
