PMS Battle <strong>of</strong> the Books Team<br />
Competes in Regionals<br />
Congratulations to Pembroke Middle<br />
School Battle <strong>of</strong> the Books Team. The<br />
team won the 2013 <strong>Robeson</strong> <strong>County</strong><br />
Middle School Battle <strong>of</strong> the books<br />
competition which was held on March 6<br />
and 7, 2013 at Lumberton Junior High.<br />
Eleven middle schools from across the<br />
county “battled” for the title. Pembroke<br />
Middle represented the <strong>Public</strong> <strong>Schools</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Robeson</strong> <strong>County</strong> in regional competition<br />
on Friday, April 19, 2013 at Campbell<br />
University and placed 8th. Team members<br />

Pembroke Middle School Band<br />
On Friday, April 26th, several students<br />
from the Pembroke Middle School Band<br />
participated in the 2013 All-<strong>County</strong> Band<br />
Clinic. Kyra Jacobs and Darien Herndon<br />
won an auditioned spot in the All-<strong>County</strong><br />
Middle School Band under the direction <strong>of</strong><br />
Mr. David Stroud. KaLeigh Lowry, Anissia<br />
Hunt, David Burns, Isaiah Locklear, and<br />
Kerighan Chavis-Jacobs were chosen to<br />
participate in the All-<strong>County</strong> Honors Band<br />
under the Direction <strong>of</strong> Mr. Lorenza Floyd.<br />
Several alumni <strong>of</strong> the band also<br />
participated in the All-<strong>County</strong> High School<br />
Band.<br />
PMS Warriors S<strong>of</strong>tball & Baseball<br />
Teams<br />
The 2013 Lady Warriors are conference<br />
champs this year. Our s<strong>of</strong>tball team has a<br />
record <strong>of</strong> 13-1. The team is packed with<br />
talented young ladies who worked hard to<br />
become champions. The team consists <strong>of</strong>:<br />
Hunter Bullard, Jocelyn Bullard, Jamie<br />
Bullard, Desaree Dunham, Caycee Chavis,<br />
Marya Oxendine, Aleah Tilson, Madison<br />
Strickland, Destiny Locklear, Morgan<br />
Locklear, Nadia Nephew, Taylor Edwards,<br />
Mikayla Hunt, Kyra Jacobs, Brittney Dial,<br />
Sabrina Chavis, and Hannah Mariani. The<br />
Lady Warriors are coached by Ms. Danielle<br />
Sabol and Mr. Rodney Locklear. We are<br />
proud <strong>of</strong> the success our ladies.<br />
Our Warrior Baseball Team is equally as<br />
talented this school year. Our baseball<br />
team has a record <strong>of</strong> 12-0; we are<br />
undefeated this season and in first place in<br />
the conference. The Baseball team<br />
consists <strong>of</strong>: Lucas Oxendine, Bladen<br />
Strickland, McKinley Strickland, Chay<br />
Locklear, Kendall Locklear, Michael<br />
Bullard, Prentice Urban, Ryan Graham,<br />
Ryan Taylor, Shawn Williamson, Christian<br />
Cummings, Ashton Cummings, Braydon<br />
Scott, Josh Revels, Johnnie Lowery,<br />
Chance Lowry, Phillip Locklear, Jerry<br />
Locklear and Jarrett Hunt. The team is<br />
coached by Head Coach Mr. Roger<br />
Graham, and Assistant Coaches Mr. Chuck<br />
Oxendine and Mr. Reggie Strickland.<br />
Science Fair Winner<br />
Indian Education American Indian Science<br />
and Engineering Society Science Fair was<br />
held at IEA in Pembroke on April 25, 2013.<br />
Brittany Goins, an 8 th grade student, at<br />
Pembroke Middle School won 1st place in<br />
the Science Fair for her category. She will<br />
be attending the National AISES Science<br />
Fair in Albuquerque, New Mexico in March<br />
2014 or she will receive up to $500.00 paid<br />
registration for an academic summer camp.<br />
