WHAT NOT TO BRING TO CAMP
THESE ITEMS ARE NOT PERMITTED AT CAMP. IF THE CHILD BRINGS ANY OF
THE LISTED ITEMS, THE ITEM(S) WILL BE CONFISCATED AND RETURNED PRI-
OR TO THE CAMPER’S DEPARTURE.
WIRELESS COMMUNICATION – CELLS PHONES, BLACKBERRIES OR OTHER
SIMILAR DEVICES
Giving your children over to other people’s care is the greatest act of trust you can engage in.
We take this position of trust seriously and we commit to doing everything to justify your
trust. We will inform you in the case of any pertinent situation regarding your child and will
allow the child to call at designate times to share their adventures with you from available pay
phones.
TELEVISION, DVD PLAYERS, GAMING DEVICES, LAPTOPS, IPADS, OR ANY
OTHER ELECTRONIC MEDIA DEVICES
At Olympia, we strive to provide an environment of personal and social growth
and prohibit the use of electronic devices as a source of entertainment to ensure interaction
between campers to develop new relationships and provide a positive environment for social
growth.
ANY FOOD PRODUCT CONTAINING NUTS OR CHEWING GUM
We are a nut aware camp and strive for a nut free environment for our campers to
ensure the safety of those with severe allergic reactions.
TOBACCO, ALCOHOL, DRUGS OR DRUG PARAPHENALIA
Possession of alcohol or drugs will result in immediate dismissal.
NO WEAPONS, KNIVES OR FIREWORKS
These items will be confiscated
IPODS, MP3 AND OTHER MUSIC PLAYING DEVICES
It has been in our and in other camps’ experiences that these items can limit the potential for personal
growth at camp through social interaction. We feel that one of the main reasons that you send your
children to camp is to get them away from the distractions of normal living (e.g. Internet, television,
video games) and we would like to provide that service as best we can by removing these distractions,
enabling them more time for social interaction and physical activity.
BE ADVISED THAT OLYMPIA SPORTS CAMP WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY
LOST OR STOLEN ITEMS. WE STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST BRINGING UP VALUABLES
OF ANY KIND TO AVOID THEIR LOSS.
We at Olympia are very aware of the damaging effects of the sun. This is a challenge
that must be addressed all year long. Over the years our Health Centre staff have
come to understand this problem, and have established specific policies in order to help
teach campers to protect themselves. Staff will continue to ask campers to:
1. Always wear a hat
2. Always wear protective clothing, in particular, light coloured and loose fitting
clothing
3. Always wear sun screen (remember to reapply sun screen after swimming)
