A former
member
of both the Dominoes (1950s) and the Ink
Spots (1960s), Monroe Powell was hired
by Buck Ram to join the Platters as their
third lead singer in 1970, replacing Sonny
Turner who replaced the original Tony Williams.
Today, Monroe is flanked by Don
Gloude, Kenn Johnson and Genevieve
Dew in recreating all those hits such as
today with his own group, George Galfo’s
Mystics. Today, he takes pride as the lead
singer on “Hushabye,” the group's biggest
hit, along with the leads on “Don't Take The
Stars”, “Darling I Know Now”… just to mention
a few. George can be heard on all the
Mystics original recordings. They are a very
affordable track show, and can
supplement their show with a
small backing band.
