ANZAC Day at Fagan Park, 25 April
Rural Museums and Netherby Homestead Open Day
Commemorate ANZAC Day on Thursday 25 April at Fagan Park, Galston. The Heritage Area of
Netherby Homestead and Rural Museums in Fagan Park will be open between 10am and 4pm.
Fagan Park provides an insight into the remarkable rural history of Hornsby Shire. There will be a
display of Trucks, Tractors, and Stationary Engines including a Steam Engine, Road Roller, Horsedrawn
Sulkies, a display of Hand Tools, and restored Farm Machinery to see.
Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided by the Friends of Fagan Park at a modest charge. All
park facilities such as Picnic Areas, Barbecues, Children’s Playground, Walking Trails and the
stunning Gardens of Many Nations will be open.
Entry to the Park and Museum Area is free. Entry to Fagan Park car park is $5.00 per car.

Special School
Special needs playground equipment will be built at Hornsby’s
Clarke Road Special School following a $67,000 grant from
the NSW Government.
The special grant was announced by Hornsby MP Matt Kean
earlier this month under the Community Building Partnerships
program.
Mr Kean handed over the cheque to the school’s Principal
Diane Robertson and members of the P & C last Wednesday
ahead of World Autism Day.
Ms Robertson said, “We’re extremely happy this has been

Maintenance work on Peats Ferry Bridge over
Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn
Roads and Maritime Services is continuing vital maintenance work on
the two-lane Peats Ferry Bridge over the Hawkesbury River at Brooklyn.
This involves full bridge closures during night work and occasional onelane
closures during the day.
From Sunday 28 April 2013, night work will be carried out
Sunday to Thursday from 9pm to 5am and will require a full
closure of the bridge.
During day work, one traffic lane will remain open on the bridge. Minor
delays may occur.
Emergency vehicle access will be maintained at all times. Work on the
bridge will not impact on water traffic.
When the bridge is closed at night, road access to Brooklyn and the
Pacific Highway will be maintained via specially marked detours.
Please follow the signs, drive with care and allow extra travel time.
The current phase of work is scheduled to be completed in July 2013,
weather permitting.

Hornsby Musical Society has been producing quality musical theatre to
the Shire since 1968 and their current production of “GREASE” will be

“GREASE” is a raw look at teenagers from the 1950’s facing the challenges of
girl/boy relationships.
You didn’t need to grow up in the 50’s to recognise the music and songs. First
performed in 1971 “GREASE” still holds 14th place in the list of long running
shows on Broadway.
The production is directed by Phyllis Horne who has over 30 shows to her
credit. She is ably assisted by David Morgan as Musical Director and Laurie
Tancred as Choreographer.

I have forgotten the name of my
year 2 teacher in primary school. I
have forgotten how to do quadratic
equations. I have forgotten where
the really nice Indian restaurant was
in Pymble that I used to visit. I have
forgotten appointments that I made but
didn’t write down. I have forgotten to
bring home the milk. I have forgotten
people and different incidents from my
past. I have forgotten many things as I
am sure you have as well. But this week
is a week where we are challenged to
remember.
ANZAC Day is a day set aside to recall
all of those men and women who have
served their country by giving their
lives in wars or military operations to
protect and secure our future. In each
generation we have had people who
have stood up to take their place in
the defence of our nation and have
paid the ‘ultimate sacrifice’ for their
devotion. All around our nation we
stand silently in remembrance as we
listen to the words of “The Ode” and in
unison we respond with
“Lest we forget”.
It is both a remembrance and a call
to each of us to keep the memory of
significant action and a demonstration
of love alive.
If one generation fails to remember
then who will pass it to the next
I am always encouraged by the
number of people who prove their
remembrance by attending an ANZAC
event. It is both a sign of national
pride and a sign of faithfulness and
appreciation.
I know that as I work with members
of the ADF this remembrance is
appreciated and valued more than you
know.

than this, than to lay down one’s life for
his friends”

So, I thank you for remembering the
ANZACs this week, I thank you for
remembering all those who follow in
their example but I also encourage you
never to forget the One who gave His
life for us all so that we need not fear
death.
So no matter how many things you
have forgotten, no matter if everything
that was poured into your mind at
school has fallen out – let’s not forget
those things that really matter and let’s
together say… “Lest we forget”.
