TOUR DURATION: 7 NIGHTS
h Nairobi: 1 night h Selenkay (Amboseli): 3 nights
h Ol Kinyei (Maasai Mara): 3 nights
DAY 1 h On arrival in Nairobi, transfer to the Southern Sun
Mayfair Nairobi for one night.
DAY 2 h Early morning road transfer by minibus (approx.
four hours) to the Selenkay Conservancy – a private
reserve in unspoilt wilderness near Amboseli National
Park – stopping en route to allow you to purchase any wine,
beer or soft drinks for the next three days. Arrive in time
for a late lunch at camp. This afternoon, experience your
first game drive in the Selenkay Conservancy. Spot big
cats, large numbers of giraffe and antelope, as well as less
common wildlife including the wild dog, caracal and serval
cat, before returning for dinner. All meals are prepared
by an experienced safari chef and are of excellent quality.
Spend three nights in Selenkay.
DAY 3 h After an early breakfast, embark on a further game
drive in the conservancy. Today you will also have the
opportunity to take an escorted nature walk with Maasai
guides to a nearby Masai village for an authentic insight
into traditional Maasai culture, followed by lunch. Lunch
will be at the camp. In the afternoon, take a game drive in
the conservancy followed by a sundowner. This evening a
wonderful night game drive awaits – a truly memorable
experience as you seek out game by spotlight, with the sounds
of the wild alerting you to their presence. Spot antelope as
their eyes glisten in the dark, or be lucky enough to witness
lions on the hunt. Return to camp for dinner.
DAY 4 h Wake early to enjoy a full day in Amboseli National
Park. Drive through bushland and see the dramatic views
of Mount Kilimanjaro in the distance (weather permitting).
Witness the large herds of elephant amongst abundant
wildlife. After a picnic lunch, return to Selenkay for dinner.
DAY 5 h After breakfast, depart Selenkay and transfer to
Wilson airport for a 50 minute light aircraft flight to the
Maasai Mara airstrip. Arrive mid-late afternoon and transfer
to your next camp in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy – a beautiful
wilderness belonging to a Maasai community and set as
a sanctuary for wildlife. Freshen up at your tent before
heading out on an evening game drive in the conservancy to
view some of the Mara’s famous wildlife. Return to camp for
dinner and a three night stay.
DAY 6 h Awake at dawn for an early game drive in the
conservancy, particularly keeping an eye out for big cats
who are likely to be more active before the peak heat of the
day. Return to camp for a late breakfast and an escorted
nature walk. An afternoon game drive follows, with a
spectacular night drive in the conservancy as you return to
camp for dinner.
DAY 7 h An early breakfast is followed by a full day’s game
viewing in the world-famous Maasai Mara reserve. Enjoy
a picnic lunch as you seek lion, cheetah, wildebeest and
hyena in the open savannah and rolling grasslands. Return
to camp late afternoon for dinner.
DAY 8 h A final short early morning game drive in the
conservancy awaits, followed by breakfast. Depart camp
for the drive back to Nairobi by minibus (approx. four
hours). Transfer to the airport for your return flight or
choose to extend your time in Africa with a beach stay.
