Stone Town Tour, zanzibar
This guided tour is a great way to learn about
Zanzibar’s rich cultural heritage, where Arab,
Indian, Persian and European influences blend with
local African tradition. Discover historic buildings
with elaborately carved wooden doors, shaded by
balconies lining the narrow, winding streets. You’ll
take in the former slave market, pass consulates and
explore old forts and gardens. Visit the imposing
House of Wonders – the Sultan’s Palace – a museum
dedicated to Zanzibar’s history and culture.

This tour will take you to Kizimkazi in
Zanzibar, where you can see traces of an
Old Shirazi settlement and an ancient mosque
dating back to 1107 AD. Make your way to a
small fishing village and sail out to sea on a
local motorised boat in search of dolphins
– there’s a great chance you’ll spot them
cresting the waves.

Begin with a visit to the Beit el Mtoni Palace
ruins, birth place of Princess Salme – the
youngest daughter of Seyyid Said bin Sultan
and author of Memoirs of an Arabian Princess
from Zanzibar. Take a tour around the Persian
baths, the main palace and botanic gardens.
Board a Jahazi with white tanga and set sail,
enjoying live music and the beautiful sunset.
Drop anchor and feast upon a ‘fruits of the
sea’ buffet, with lobster, prawns and calamari
amongst other delicacies. The tour returns
after dark, illuminated only by the moon,
stars and lights from Stone Town.
