YOUR
ITINER ARY
TOUR DURATION: 9 NIGHTS
h Okavango Delta: 2 nights
h Moremi Game Reserve: 2 nights
h Chobe National Park: 2 nights
h Cape Town: 3 nights
DAY 1 h On your arrival in Maun you will be met and
transferred by air to the beautiful Eagle Island Camp,
located on the remote Xaxaba Island surrounded by
winding waterways fringed with lush vegetation. Here
you will spend the next two nights enjoying river safaris
by motorboat or mokoro (dependant on water levels) and
game viewing on foot or by safari vehicle. You will also
experience the Delta from the air as the Eagle Island Camp
offers guests the opportunity to gaze out over the web of
islands and channels from the comfort of a helicopter, a
simply astounding experience never to be forgotten. This
35 minute helicopter game activity, which is included in the
price of your holiday, takes you over inaccessible lakes and
waterways giving you a bird’s eye view of the formation of
the Delta and, as this area isn’t accessible to most, allowing
you to get up close to the animals as they aren’t disturbed
by the noise. The camp itself is luxurious and secluded and
each tent is stylishly appointed and set on a raised wooden
base with private deck and hammock, and topped with
traditional African thatch. Enjoy a romantic tipple at the
beautiful island bar, set away from the main camp, dine al
fresco overlooking the lagoon, take a dip in the pool and
gaze up at the blanket of stars with the help of the resort’s
high powered telescope. All of the Orient-Express camps
pride themselves on offering excellent service, and include
laundry, drinks (apart from imported Champagne) and
game activities as well as a private dining experience at one
of the camps.
DAY 3 h After your morning game activity and breakfast,
board a light aircraft for a journey to the Khwai River
Lodge, where you will stay for two nights. Nestled at the
edge of a forest overlooking the Moremi Game Reserve,
it offers game drives both during the day, and at night. Lit
by moonlight, the reserve is like a whole new world and
you can meet a host of nocturnal creatures often heard
but rarely seen and enjoy stargazing from your open
vehicle. You can also enjoy bird watching and safari walks.
Khwai River Lodge is well-known for its gatherings of big
game and has a spectacular observation deck with a high
powered telescope ideal for looking out over the Khwai
River and into the Moremi Game Reserve. There is also
a boma where dinner is served and local performances
take place beneath the stars, and you can also take a dip
in the swimming pool and treat yourself to a sumptuous
treatment at the spa.
