DAY 1 h Upon your arrival a
Private Safari’s representative
will escort you to your transfer
vehicle which will take you on to
131 Herbert Baker.
DAY 2 h After breakfast transfer
to the station where you will be
met by Blue Train representatives
who will whisk your luggage away
and escort you to the lounge
where there is a selection of
drinks and nibbles available.
After a short briefing your butler
will escort you to your cabin
where you will stay for one night.
Explore the Blue Train at your
leisure and enjoy sumptuous
cuisine in the dining car. Enjoy
a drink in one of the two bars or
simply gaze out of the window
at the passing scenery. The Blue
Train is said to be a window to
the soul of Africa, and the views
out and across this dramatic
landscape are simply breath
taking, it’s a journey of a lifetime
in the lap of luxury.
DAY 3 h The next day you will stop
off at the town of Kimberley,
famed for its diamond mine. Here
you will visit the Big Hole and enjoy
a tour of the diamond museum.
Walk out over the edge of the hole
on a suspended boardwalk for a
better view of the turquoise water
that fills the bottom of the mine
and learn all about the history of
the diamond trade, its winners and
losers. Enjoy scenic surroundings
as you complete the last leg of your
train journey into Cape Town.
On arrival transfer to the Taj Hotel,
Cape Town where you have the
rest of the day at leisure (approx.
15 miles).
DAY 4 h Spend the next three days
exploring beautiful Cape Town
where you will find a great array
of shops, restaurants and bars.
Alternatively you could take one
of the many optional excursions
(extra cost) on offer in this
buzzing city. Take the cable car
up Table Mountain where, on a
clear day, you will be met by views
over Cape Town and the Atlantic
coast. On its flat top is the Table
Mountain National Park, home
to a plethora of flora and fauna.
There is also a small gift shop and
café as well as plenty of stunning
viewpoints. Alternatively, embark
on a cruise to Seal Island, visit the
infamous Robben Island where
Nelson Mandela was incarcerated
or visit the penguin colony at
Boulders Beach.
DAY 7 h After breakfast transfer
to Franschhoek and the beautiful
Mont Rochelle, your home for
the next two nights. Enjoy an
afternoon at leisure where you
can indulge in a complimentary
wine tasting, lounge around
the pool or take a stroll through
the beautiful grounds. Dine on
innovative cuisine in Mange
Tout, with the tinkling of ivories
adding to a relaxed and intimate
atmosphere (approx. 63 miles).
DAY 8 h Enjoy the next two days
at your leisure in Franschhoek
educating your palate to some
of South Africa’s best wines and
sumptuous cuisine. Maybe enjoy
exploring the Cape Winelands
further by visiting Paarl or
Stellenbosch and sampling some
of the wines from the many
wineries that populate these areas.
DAY 10 h Transfer to the
airport and continue on your
onward journey.
