tantly, this levelling-off occurred even though
worker effort continued to increase. However,
at genus level the sampling record is incomplete,
indicating that families should not be
used as a proxy for genera. There is little
variation among the different subsets of generic
data, with the sampling history of different
stratigraphic periods and among different
orders being very similar. However, there is
noticeable variation among geographical regions,
caused by variations in worker effort,
and this could cause problems when comparing
speciation and diversity patterns across
faunal provinces. The role of synonyms on
sampling history has had little effect.
巴 西 早 白 垩 世 Crato 组 蝎 子 的 高 阶 分 类 学
= Higher systematics of Scorpions from the
Crato formation, lower Cretaceous of Brazil.
( 英 文 ). Menon F. Palaeontology, 2007, 50(1):
185–195
Several new specimens of Protoischnurus
axelrodorum Carvalho and Lourenço and
Araripescorpius ligabuei Campos from the
Crato Formation, Brazil, are described. The
preservation and recognition of new morphological
features allows a re-diagnosis of both
species and a modification of their familial
placement. Protoischnurus axelrodorum is the
oldest species belonging to the scorpionoid
family Hemiscorpiidae Pocock (= Ischnuridae
Simon; = Liochelidae Fet and Bechly) and the
first Cretaceous record. It was originally
placed in the extinct family Protoischnuridae
Carvalho and Lourenço, which is here synonymized
with Hemiscorpiidae. Araripescorpius
ligabuei, now assigned to Chactidae Pocock,
is the first chactoid recorded for the Cretaceous
of Brazil. These findings confirm that
the lineages of two modern families date back
at least to the Early Cretaceous and, considering
their current distribution, were probably
present before the break-up of the supercontinent
Gondwana. Palaeoecological inferences
indicate the presence of tropical habitats in the
vicinity of the Crato lake/lagoon.
华 南 板 块 Arenig–Llanvirn 期 Asaphoid 三
叶 虫 = Asaphoid Trilobites from the Arenig–
Llanvirn of the South China plate. ( 英 文 ).
Turvey S T. Palaeontology, 2007, 50(2): 347-
399
Twenty-nine Arenig and Llanvirn trilobite
species, representing 20 genera in the Asaphidae,
Cyclopygidae, Dikelokephalinidae,
Nileidae, Raphiophoridae, Remopleurididae,
Taihungshaniidae and Trinucleidae, are
treated in a taxonomic review of the South
Chinese Asaphida. This review is based on
large collections of trilobite material made
from five formations at nine localities in western
Hubei, northern Hunan and southern
Shaanxi, representing a wide range of benthic
marine environments across the Yangtze Platform
and Jiangnan Transitional Belt regions of
the South China Plate. Most South Chinese
representatives of the Asaphidae are reassigned
to the Nobiliasaphinae on the basis of
cranidial and hypostomal characters, and
taxonomic revisions are given for Liomegalaspides
and Opsimasaphus pseudodawanicus.
Taihungshania shui and T. tachengssuensis
are revised and redescribed, and the establishment
of lectotypes for these species and T.
brevica clarifies the status of the type material
of Taihungshania. Nileus walcotti is revised
and restricted biogeographically to the South
China Plate; material from Xinjiang previously
assigned to this species is reassigned to
N. sericeus sp. nov. The new raphiophorid
species Raphioampyx sinankylosus is described.
Aocaspis, Incaia and Raphioampyx
are recorded for the first time from South
China, and the latter two genera are also recorded
for the first time from the Arenig.
奥 陶 纪 介 形 类 一 种 新 的 性 双 形 = A new
kind of sexual dimorphism in Ordovician Ostracodes.
( 英 文 ). Schallreuter R; Hinz-
Schallreuter I. Palaeontology, 2007, 50(2):
495-501
In Ordovician ostracodes (genus Incisua) a
new kind of sexual dimorphism is described,
which is the first example among this group
with males being the heteromorphs. The
valves of males are larger and less frequent
than the females, and are characterized by
having a furrow in the ventral part. The furrow
may have functioned as a device to enable the
two sexes to cling together during mating.
