<strong>NSDL</strong> - Trusted by more than 9 Million Investors<br />
<strong>NSDL</strong> launches <strong>NSDL</strong> Certification in Depository Operations (NCDO)<br />
In order to increase the availability<br />
of trained personnel for depository<br />
operations, <strong>NSDL</strong> has launched<br />
<strong>NSDL</strong> Certification in Depository<br />
Operations (NCDO). NCDO oriented<br />
training progaramme covers<br />
various aspects of depository<br />
operations followed by a written<br />
test. Certificate is given to the<br />
participant on successful passing<br />
of the test which is valid for a<br />
period of five years. The persons<br />
holding the certificate will be<br />
considered as qualified personnel<br />
in relation to the requirement for<br />
service centres of the Participant.<br />
The first such NCDO programme was conducted in Mumbai on <strong>March</strong> 7, 20<strong>09</strong>. Similar programmes are scheduled to be<br />
held at New Delhi and Kolkata (on <strong>March</strong> 21, 20<strong>09</strong>) and at Chennai (on <strong>March</strong> 25, 20<strong>09</strong>).<br />
Feature of partial settlement of pay-in related instructions executed from Client to Clearing<br />
Member Pool Account<br />
A feature for partial settlement of pay-in related instructions is developed. As per this feature, in case of insufficient<br />
balance in Client’s account, instructions given by a Client to transfer securities from its account to the Clearing Member<br />
(CM) Pool Account will get executed to the extent of balance available in the Client’s account at the time of pay-in of<br />
securities. This feature is proposed to be effective from <strong>March</strong> 21, 20<strong>09</strong>.<br />

Investors :<br />
As on February 28, 20<strong>09</strong>, there are 96,79,833 Investor<br />
accounts from within the country and abroad. 2,295 clearing<br />
member accounts have been opened to facilitate trading<br />
and settlement of demat shares in the stock exchanges<br />
connected to <strong>NSDL</strong>. Table 1 shows the growth in investor<br />
accounts over a period of three years.<br />
