Three seniors, Julian
Williams, Calvin Greene and
Caleb Plummer are expected
to join Sweet on the line.
While none of them where
starters, they all did see time
a year ago. Junior Chaz Scott
will be at the other tackle.
They will be opening holes
for senior tailback Eddie
Meridith (5-7, 170), who finished
last year with 906 yards.
“We will be counting on
Eddie to make some plays,”
Parmley said. “He is getting
better and should have a big
year.”
Also back is senior quarterback
Jared Holmes, who
threw for 905 yards on 69-of-
127 passing.
“Jared makes great decisions
and seems to be able to
get us out of trouble,”
Parmley said. “He has the
ability to turn a busted play
into a big one.”
However, he will have to
find a go-to receiver this year.
Senior Andre Lovely and junior
Dionte Heath will be
joined in the starting lineup
by sophomore tight end Tony
Dewitt.
Despite returning just
three starters on defense, led
by senior safety Hunter Lewis
(6-0, 175), the Dragons will
still be counting on that side
of the ball to win games.
“You have to stop people to
win,” Parmley said. “Hunter
is a leader and we think he
can make plays. We have
some other guys who can do
the same thing.”
Still, there are many holes
to fill and a lot of unknowns
for DeRidder.
“When you throw eight
new guys out there, a lot of
things can happen,” Parmley
said. “Sometimes not all
those things are good ones.”
Parmley hopes more of
those things turn out good,
not bad.
