Territorial Co-operation <strong>Programme</strong>s (<strong>URBACT</strong> <strong>II</strong> included). Ministry of Economy is<br />

the intermediate body responsible for the support of the cultural heritage, but<br />

mainly they work with applications for the programme "<strong>The</strong> use of the cultural<br />

heritage for the tourism needs", main focus on tourism. At the moment there is no<br />

definitive confirmation from the responsible MA in Lithuania to associate to the<br />

network, however Vilnius partners (with the assistance of the EC DG REGIO) will<br />

continue to negotiate and to find the responsible Ministry units to enable their<br />

subsequent involvement to the HerO project.<br />

Sighisoara (LOI signed): Our Managing Authority is the Directorate for Strategy<br />

and <strong>Programme</strong> Coordination of the Ministry of Development, Public Works and<br />

Housing in Bucharest. We intend to involve the representatives by inviting them to<br />

attend the LSG meetings. <strong>The</strong>y already accepted our invitation.<br />

Liverpool (LOI signed): <strong>The</strong> Managing Authority is the European Policy Team in<br />

the North West Development Agency (NWDA). <strong>The</strong> NWDA is already represented<br />

on the World Heritage Site Steering Group by a member of its Planning Team. <strong>The</strong><br />

NWDA funded the preparation of the WHS Management Plan in 2003 and has<br />

funded further work on the implementation of its Action Plan. <strong>The</strong> European Team<br />

will be circulated with all papers connected with the work of the WHS Steering<br />

Group and invited to attend the HerO meetings and conferences.<br />

<strong>Lublin</strong> (LOI signed): We intend to involve our Managing Authority, the Marshal’s<br />

Office of the Lubelskie Voivodship, by invitation to discussion on the historic areas<br />

development (with clear regional context) and regional strategy for tourism development<br />

and by participation in revision of regional priorities on the base of project<br />

outcomes (through the conferences, research, case studies available).<br />

Poitiers (LOI signed): Our Managing Authority is the Regional Chief Executive who<br />

delegates, regarding the concerned policy, to regional headquarters. Each of these<br />

policy regional authorities was invited to a first meeting on July 10th. We introduced<br />

the HerO project and asked them to be part of the project. <strong>The</strong>y all approved<br />

the project and gave a principle agreement. <strong>The</strong> General Secretary of Regional<br />

Affairs (related to the regional chief executive) is competent for the Structural<br />

Funds management (Mrs Béatrice LAGARDE). She confirmed her interest to<br />

the project and will nominate a unique interlocutor who will work directly on the<br />

HerO project.<br />

Valencia (LOI signed): Our intention is to achieve the Integrated Cultural Heritage<br />

Management at Local level in coherence with the rest of the partners of HerO project.<br />

<strong>The</strong>refore we are going to inform to our Managing Authority, the Generalitat<br />

Valenciana, about all activities taking place during the Hero project. We will draw<br />

special attention in sharing best practices, methods, experiences and strategies<br />

with them in order to preserve cultural and physical heritage values, while urban<br />

development and changes on population keep on evolving, balancing them both.<br />

We wish to implement as soon as possible our plan with ERDF funding therefore<br />

we will address our Managing Authorities to tell us how to apply to those funds.<br />

We will invite them to come to the seminars and workshops and they will also be<br />

involved in the Local Support Group.<br />

Valletta (LOI signed): Our Managing Authority is the Planning and Priorities Coordination<br />

Division of the Office of the Prime Minister. <strong>The</strong> Managing Authority will<br />

be involved in the LSG activities and therefore will be involved in the development<br />

and monitoring of:<br />
