tion, created to assist member cities adapt and improve their management<br />
methods in relation to the specific requirements of having a site inscribed on<br />
the UNESCO World Heritage List. OWHC encourages, on both regional and international<br />
levels, cooperation and the exchange of information and expertise<br />
among historic cities throughout the world in close collaboration with other organizations<br />
pursuing similar goals while emphasizing action likely to support the<br />
efforts of cities located in developing countries.<br />
10.2 General coordination and overall responsibilities<br />
Project team and responsibilities of the Lead Partner Regensburg:<br />
<strong>The</strong> city of Regensburg as lead partner of the proposed HerO-thematic network<br />
will offer its own experienced personnel to guarantee a professional and efficient<br />
co-ordination and management of the project.<br />
<strong>The</strong> project will be co-ordinated by the Planning and Building Division of the city of<br />
Regensburg and more specifically by the city’s world heritage management subdepartment<br />
headed by Mr. Matthias Ripp, who is proposed to be the thematic coordinator<br />
of the network. Mr. Ripp will be supported by Ms. Barbara Bühler, who is<br />
responsible for the day-to-day management of the project, which comprises also<br />
the financial and administrative management as well as communication issues in<br />
the network. Both experts, Mr. Ripp (graduated historical geographer with additional<br />
qualification in heritage conservation, building history and urbanism) and<br />
Ms. Bühler (graduated architect with Master of Arts in World Heritage Studies)<br />
have a solid background in urban development and heritage management. Taking<br />
benefit from the long term experience in managing complex transnational cooperation<br />
projects Mr. Klaus Grepmeier as the appointed European Officer of the<br />
city of Regensburg will assist Ms. Bühler in the management and financial coordination<br />
of the <strong>URBACT</strong> network. Mr. Grepmeier has a long track record in project<br />
management acquired through co-ordinating international (EC-funded) projects<br />
involving multi-disciplinary teams from different organisations and of different<br />
nationalities. CVs of all experts have been presented together with the Declaration<br />
of Interest.<br />
All proposed experts from the city of Regensburg have excellent social skills and<br />
competences, communication skills in English language gained through previous<br />
managing of promotion and dissemination actions at European level. All experts<br />
are experienced in working in a European dimension and in multicultural environments.<br />
Management and co-ordination activities:<br />
Project coordination and administrative/financial management of the network<br />
activities: provision of contractual documents to the <strong>URBACT</strong> Secretariat; dayto-day<br />
management of the project according to the timetable and budget forecast;<br />
delivering progress reports (activity and financial) to the <strong>URBACT</strong> Secretariat<br />
every 6 months; managing the project in PRESAGE-CTE; setting up and<br />
implementing first level control; providing assistance to the reporting of partners;<br />
co-ordination of the work of the thematic experts assigned to the network;<br />
supervision and assessment of partner contributions; internal handling of<br />
programme funding.<br />
Setting up and animation of a HerO Steering Committee (composed by the<br />
Lead Partner, selected Project Partner representatives and the Lead Expert):<br />
consider/assess the progress of the overall project and give appropriate orien-<br />
