SHAVINGS
...from the Prez
Mike Jackofsky
Greetings All
It’s time to shift gears, and take
advantage of our great warmer
weather, and be more creative
in the shop! With many activities
approaching, such as our
annual picnic with a unique
raffle of donated turnings, and
the San Diego County Fair
with competition generating
many rewards, we need to
plan our turning schedule.
I know many of you appreciated
the presentation by Michael
Hosaluk, because I observed
much note taking and photographing.
No matter how long
or much you’ve been turning,
you undoubtedly picked
up some new ideas from his
marvelous demo! I am eagerly
anticipating viewing our next
Instant Gallery to see his influ-
ence on your pieces!
With our “Spring Fling” at Ken
& Pat Roth’s on 11 May, I will
look forward to some keen competition
in the raffle drawing of
the many beautiful turnings!
As you may know, I convince
many of my friends to take
chances in this impressive raffle,
so the pieces I select aren’t all
being added to my collection.
Talk you friends into buying
some chances --- I’m willing to
share! FYI --- the prices will be
$5 ea, 6 for $25, 15 for $50…
Hopefully, you’ve been working
on your entries for the Design
in Wood Competition at the
SD County Fair! Check online
for the registration form --- the
deadline for submission is Friday,
3 May…
We have 4 turning classes, and
you can enter 3 pieces. There
will be $600.00 awarded in each
class, plus many special awards.
Think about it --- you can do
it!!!
Of course, you have already
signed up to demo in the SDW
Booth! It’s fun to share our
love and fascination with many
curious attendees! To have
fun, recruit new members, and
generate donations to our Toys
for Tots and Wounded Warrior
funds, is a WIN, WIN, WIN!!!
Any questions, ask Tom Edwards.
Mike Jackofsky
Mike Jackofsky has agreed to conduct a free all day
meeting for our club members. He will be discussing
everything you could ever want to know about using
your bowl gouge to cut both a bowl and a hollow form.
The bowl gouge is one of the most important tools you
will use in woodturning and many people have trouble
deciding what to do with it when they do. Mike will go
over how the grain affects the cuts and how to finesse the
wood into your desired shape.
Airbrush Techniques
w/Joe Fleming
From Joe: “I will be demonstrating airbrush techniques. I will talk
about paint and dye selection, air brush cleaning, and how to transition
from oil to alcohol to water-based materials. I’ll show some practice
techniques to develop your own air brush skills. We will explore some
painting techniques like how to do masking, how to do shading, and
how to blend colors.”
As many of you read in these pages ia month or so ago, Joe hosted a
two day airbrushing class at his shop for club members. I found this
class (and the information presented) fascinating and enlightening.
I’ve included some examples of work (mine, Joe’s, and others from the
class) below. Don’t miss this program. It could very well be one od
those “ah-ha” moments in your wood turning.
Wood News...
Feelers Out!!!
As we approach Spring and the
work that people typically do in
their yards please keep your “feelers”
out. Tree removal happens
for a number of reasons and we
want to be ready. Yes, we want to
add to our wood inventory. Black
acacia, ironbark eucalyptus, maple,
sycamore, and maple are on our
“must have” list. These woods and
of course some of the old standbys
(ash, walnut, olive, citrus, avocado,
etc.) are welcome anytime. Give me
a call if you come across something
that you think might be of interest to
the SDWTs, (619) 403-0377.
The San Diego Wood Turner Meeting
in March will highlight one of our own. Yes, Mike Jackofsky is
generously volunteering his time. Mike is an outstanding turner who
is always willing to share his knowledge with club members. Please
come and purchase that special piece of wood to apply some of what
you will learn from Mike. Actually, you should purchase several
pieces!!!
Wood is $.25/lb and anchorseal is $15/gallon. March should be the
month where you look at purchasing the wood and sealer needed for a
busy Spring at the lathe.
Those of you purchasing wood in March are eligible for a special treat
in April. If you purchase wood in March and turn it into something and
bring it back in April (can be a rough or finished turning) you will get a
free 10-20 lb. piece of wood of your choice from our wood collection.
Your piece could end up on the share table but does not have to in order
for you to be eligible. Don’t miss out!!!
Thanks,
Dan

Hello SDWT Members,
While researching the size ranking
of our AAW Chapter (in
2012, we were the 9th largest
out of 300), I also found that the
San Diego Woodturners, Inc.
was the 8th Chapter inducted
in the American Association of
Woodturners. We were so early
that we own the rights to use
the name “Woodturners” in our
chapter name. Any California
chapter that wants to include
“Woodturners” in their name
needs permission from us – and
that means just about all of
them!
If you want to:
- join the San Diego Woodturners
- renew AAW and/or SDWT
membership
- check your member number
or renewal date
- add your photo to the
SDWT Membership Directory
- obtain a new 2013 Membership
Card for local merchant
discounts
- order a Membership Badge
(wear your badge and receive 1
extra raffle ticket!)
- have an idea for our club …
… please see the instructions at
the end of the newsletter, just
before the membership application,
or contact me at Leonard-
Badour@roadrunner.com.
Thanks to everyone who renewed
on time. It makes my
job easier. Nearly all of the
long time (pre-2011) members
renewed by year’s end; newer
members have a renewal anniversary
date, the date they
joined AAW and SDWT. About
two months before the AAW
membership expires, your AAW
Journal will have a colored notice
attached.
Also, each AAW Journal Label
shows your member number and
renewal date with each issue.
Your SDWT membership renewal
date is the same as your
AAW renewal date, no matter
when you joined SDWT. When
you receive an AAW Journal
with a renewal notice, it’s also
time to also renew your SDWT
membership. (For insurance
purposes, SDWT members must
also be AAW members.)
As of March 2011, all new memberships
were converted from
the older calendar basis to anniversary
basis. If you have any
questions about your membership
renewal, please call AAW at
(651) 484-9094.
(For further membership instructions,
see the instructions just
before the membership application
near the end of the newsletter).
This Month:
Mike Jackofsky!
I decided to do something a little different from what most of you are used to seeing from me. Instead of just
focusing on hollow forms for the whole day, I will do something closer to my normal demos I sometimes do
when I visit other clubs.
I will do a quick, small hollow vessel project, but I will use most of the
time to concentrate more on general woodturning. I intend to spend some
time on using and sharpening bowl gouges because I think that can be a
confusing part of woodturning to many turners.
I will make an open bowl and also show how I make a spinning top with
chatter and maybe a small box.
I don’t have any exact plan, but that way I can take questions about any area of woodturning that you guys
want to cover. I intend to move fast in going through a number of projects during the day, in an attempt to
keep ( at least most of) you guys
from falling asleep!
See you there!
Mike
Mike J Introduces New Tools...
Mike Jackofsky is pleased to introduce two new additions to the Hollow Pro tool line. The “Rocket” is a set
of 3/8” shaft small vessel tools; available as a set (one straight and one bent tool) both with #1 Hunter cutters.
These tools will allow you to hollow small vessels up to 7” wide by 7” tall though openings as small as 1/2”.
Both tools have Mike’s “negative” angle for increased control and smooth finishing cuts on the interior.
Also available are the new Hollow Pro Calipers. Available in small and large sizes, they will accommodate
accurate and repeatable measurements in vessels from 8” diameter x 6 1/4” deep (small) to 18” diameter x 11
3/4” deep (large).
Tools will be available for inspection and purchase at the March meeting. Mike will offer special club pricing
at this months meeting.

What’s Up and Coming in the Club
By Karen Freitas
March is fast approaching and
so is Mike Jackofsky’s all day
demo. We will be only charging
$10 (we had to raise the price
of lunch to cover the increasing
cost of food) for lunch and
you get to enjoy an entire day
of first class instruction on how
to get the best cut on your bowl
or hollow form using both a
bowl gouge and carbide cutting
tools. Mike has taught around
the country (for a price) and we
get all his knowledge handed to
us because he is one of our own
members. I want to thank Mike
for donating his time and showing
us how to use our tools. It’s
both a learning lesson to new
turners and refresher for those a
little more seasoned.
Mike has offered to conduct a
one, two or three day class and
we will be taking names at the
meeting.
April
For our April Demo we will
welcome Joe Fleming as our
demonstrator. He brings a wealth
of knowledge of many things but
this demo will focus on using
color and airbrushing to enhance
our turnings. He uses color
in many of his pieces and the
preparation and finish are just
outstanding. I have seen some of
his airbrushing techniques and
he is able to get some beautiful
colors or pictures that remind
of Bin Pho. I hope we see you
there.
May
May will be our annual Picnic.
This is a time we all get together
to celebrate spring and enjoy
each other’s company. Bring
the family to Ken Roth’s house
and let the kids run wild! (Hey
it’s not my house.) Seriously, he
has a beautiful and very large
yard with its own stream running
through it. The kids will love to
chase the crawdads and hopefully
not get too wet. We also hold
our biggest and best raffle of the
year. Everyone is encouraged to
turn a favorite object and donate
it to the raffle. This raffle has
been my favorite since I pick up
great artwork for my collection.
I still have a few more peoples
turnings that I need to add to my
collection. So come on down
and bring the family. There is a
charge for lunch but I’m not sure
of the amount so I won’t guess.
June
June is set to be another new
thing to learn. We have Oskar
Kirsten conducting a demo on
how to core out your salad bowl
blanks and get 3 or 4 bowls
from one chunk instead of one
bowl and all those shavings.
Why waste a beautiful piece
of wood when there are more
bowls to make and sell. Oskar is
one of our Mentors and I went
over to his shop and learned how
to use his Oneway Coring System
and he has some great tips
and techniques to get the best
results. There are other systems
out there and so far this was by
far the easiest to use and learn.
Of course being the tool-aholic
(Continued on page 9)

San Diego Woodturners Page 9 March 2013
(Programs- continued from page 8)
that I am, I had to run out and
buy one for myself. I think I
will get lots of good use out if it
and you can see if you need one
too or if you just want to keep
throwing all those extra bowls
out with the shavings.
September
July
July will be Graeme Priddle.
Take a look at his web site
(http://graemepriddle.com/) and
see what you think. We will be
having classes after the demo so
start saving your pennies and be
ready to be amazed. He comes
all the way from New Zealand
and makes some amazing things.
He uses a lot of nature’s inspiration
in his turnings and living
near the ocean really shows in
his work. He will conduct an
all-day demo and most likely a 2
day class so sign up early.
August
Jack Boggio will be conducting
our August demo. He hails from
Fallbrook and started out as a
carver. He has since started turning
and he adds some beautiful
carving techniques to his turnings.
He has a web site (http://
www.timberstotreasures.com/index.
html) that you can check out
and see some of his work. He is
going to show us some interesting
Christmas Ornaments early
enough we might actually get
them done before Christmas.
Well maybe not me but some of
you should have them mastered
by then. He will show us how he
adds some simple (so he says)
carvings to the center of his
ornaments. I am looking forward
to seeing how he accomplishes
the holes to see inside the ornaments.
And I don’t mean he
makes a funnel like I make.
September will be our Tools and
Techniques demo. This is where
you get to try out a new technique
and learn from out Mentors.
We will have stations set up
both inside and outside (if it’s
not raining) to allow you some
hands-on training. You can try
out a new tool or learn how to
use a bottom of the bowl gouge.
It’s all up to you. We have the
stations set up and you take your
pick.
Our club has lots of opportunity
to learn how to create something
new or just increase your skills
in you hobby of choice. Come
on down to the meeting and see
what you can do with the knowledge.

Michael Hosaluk Class
by Karen Freitas
There were only 4 lucky people
who opted to take Michael
Hosaluk’s three day class this
month. I was afraid people
who hadn’t heard of him would
hesitate taking his class since he
is more known for his unique
artistic approach to woodturning
since the class was before his
demonstration. I was right and
so the four of us got some extra
attention and now I can tell you
all about it.
On Wednesday,
we started the
class at 9 am but
of course I was
preparing a few
days earlier by
cutting wood
into prescribed
lengths and
widths. Ron
Hoyt, Eric
Freedus, Jeff
Neff and I were
taking the class
and we had the
ever popular
Pete Campbell
as our assistant.
Pete made
Mike’s and my
day so much
easier by cutting
all the wood
we needed to
and it ended up being the size of
a golf ball instead of a baseball
but it was round (mostly). He
moved on to a spinning top and
then a spatula. I really liked the
spatula and made several using
the skew which was interesting.
I now feel much more
comfortable using a skew to cut
something. That is the best part
about classes is having the help
to figure out what you’re doing
wrong with a tool. I learned how
I picked up Michael and his
lovely wife Marilyn from the
airport on Monday night and
brought them to my house.
Michael already had a full day
demonstration planned for Tuesday
at the Art Department of San
Diego State University. While he
spent the day turning and talking,
Marilyn and I spent the day
at the San Diego Zoo animal and
people watching.
be able to make
so many great
projects.
Michael started
with a turned
ball and we all
tried to make the
same thing. He
made the ball in
like 5 minutes, I
swear. It took me
about an hour
(Continued on page 11)

San Diego Woodturners Page 11 March 2013
(Class - continued from page 10)
to turn a ball, pound some dents
or designs into the ball, sand it
down and add water. Guess what
happens All those dents you
made come right back up and it
will amaze your friends.
Next, Michael decided to try
making a bracelet that would
bend. He had never made one
before so it became a learning
and teaching lesson. It didn’t
take long for all of us to be making
several bracelets and then we
got to decorate them. We tried
to figure out what size would
fit most women and it didn’t
take long to get a few different
sizes for different sized women.
I used my Master Carver with
a couple different tips to make
some designs and them I added
some color. There are so many
possibilities.
The next day, we started on an
end grain box long box. Where’s
Allen Brooks when I need him
We made a long box out of
poplar that was cut at different
angles and glued back together
into a different form. It was
the first time I had used a hook
tool to hollow with and I really
was impressed with the ease of
use. I found out I was using it
wrong when I tried a ring tool
and scared myself half to death.
Imagine that…
using a tool
wrong Michael
made a form that
I am now finishing
and I will put
it in the raffle
or silent auction
later this year.
By the way I had
Michael sign it
and so now it’s a
collaborative art
piece!
The last day, we
spent most of it using all the different
Milk Paints, Transparent
dyes and lots of different carving
burrs and wood burners. There
are so many ways to change a
plain piece of wood into something
spectacular with some
decorations.
After the demo, Michael and
Marilyn moved onto the Arizona
Symposium and spent some time
with family there. That was the
main reason we couldn’t have
the classes after the demo instead
of before. They wanted to
spend a few days with family before
the next big demonstration.
If there is enough good response
we may be able to get him back
out here since I believe he is doing
a demo in Los Angeles next
year. He won’t do a demo but we
may get him for another class
that hopefully would fill up.

Michael Hosaluk Demo
By Karen Freitas
Our demonstrator came all the
way from Saskatoon, Canada
just to show us all how many
things he can make in a relatively
short period of time. I don’t
think I have ever seen someone
make more items in one day
than Michael did.
I watched him make a ball that
was the exact size of a regulation
baseball, he made a spatula,
a bracelet and oh yes a spinning
top. I don’t know about you, but
I’ve been asked at the Del Mar
Fair if I know how to make a
spin top with a string. I never
knew how before but I think I
may be able to do it now.
I had no idea was different than
California Pepper. I brought in
a log and Michael decided to try
it out for a thin bowl. I believe it
was one of the prettiest pieces I
have ever seen. I thought it was
very interesting to watch someone
cut a bowl to 1/16” thick
and then say “Let’s make this
thinner!” I know I would have
had a funnel in no time but not
Michael. He made that bowl and
then let it warp which didn’t take
too long. I brought that bowl
home and finished sanding and
oiling it and it now sits proudly
in my art collection. I did notice
it has moved some more and no
longer sits flat but that’s the way
of the wood.
stick holder. I have not tried too
much off center stuff but I have
a better understanding of how to
judge what the piece may look
like when it’s done.
I heard a lot of great comments
and I think everyone enjoyed
themselves. We have a very
active club with a lot of great
people in it. Please let Sally or
I know what you would like
to see. We are always looking
for new ideas of what the club
wants to see.
He worked on a large scoop with
a long handle out of a single
piece of wood. I have seen that
type of jam chuck used on a
small handled scoop but never
such a large one. He made a
bracelet and a small octopus that
he used the microwave and water
to bend the legs outwards.
One of our members had brought
in some Brazilian Pepper which
Michael was able to make a
set of two door stops which I
haven’t seen someone make
in a really long time. The red
Boxelder I gave him had a little
crack that was big enough to
break off during turning so now
it has a flat side to its handle but
it still works just fine. Michael
also made an off center candle
Wood Day at Nottingham
By Mike McElhiney
How much wood could a wood
turner chuck when a wood turner
would chuck wood A great
deal is the answer to that one.
Tom Edwards, Dan White, Mark
Jacobsen, Roman Scheidel, Karen
Freitas, Jeff Neff, and Allen
Driver tore into our huge woodpile
at Nottingham while club
members observed, learned and
then turned. Tom began the day
by cutting up a round on a cleverly
designed platform. He took
the piece to a bandsaw, handed
it to Roman who cut it round in
a trice, showing me yet another
method of making a bowl blank.
If you don’t have a wonderful
set of those round cutouts made
by Karen Freitas, try this: find a
piece of cardboard, draw a circle
of about the size you need, tack
it to your bland and voila! You
are ready to turn.
Tom went through the process
of chucking up a piece and then
turned a quick bowl, showing
bowl gouge techniques, tenon
tactics and fielding questions
from the group. After the demo,
Tom went back to the wood he’d
selected for the day, cut blanks
and handed them to attendees.
They carried their pieces to
Roman who manned the bandsaw,
gave advice and sliced and
diced the blanks. Inside, Allen
Driver, Karen Freitas and Jeff
Neff helped people get started
with their bowls. There were at
least six, maybe seven people
turning at any one time. Many
of the attendees took advantage
of the astounding offer of FREE
WOOD.
Yours truly brought a piece of
fresh and very wet sycamore
to the party, sliced it in twain
with my trusty chain saw, took it
inside and turned a quick bowl.
At least I started. The wood was
so wet that I stopped, found a
towel, dried my face shield and
started again. Then I blew a
fuse! I know where the fuse box
is now and got that going again.
But the floor was so wet from
the sycamore that I had to move
the lathe and get a mop. Eventually
I finished, took it home,
micro waved it and it sits waiting
for sanding on my bench.
That is how turning goes for me;
always interesting, sometimes
wet.
But back to the woodpile...
Quite a few people were taking
advantage of the FREE WOOD
offer by Dan. After finishing
my bowl, I walked back to the
club wood storage facility and
helped to organize the unbelievably
cheap and varied selection
of wood. Star Pine or Norfolk
Island pine or carob or olive,
or oak or pepper and more –
they are all there. It is a shame
to not take advantage of this
incredible wood supply. Go to
Frost. Check the price. Come
to Nottingham. Check the price.
No comparison. And it is a
shame to let that wood become
firewood; a year in the sun and
sealer on the end or not, the
wood dries and cracks.
Much of the wood there does
have cracks in it – but it is still
eminently useable. Tom Edwards
taught a class on using
epoxy resin to fill cracks and
stabilize a turning piece. It is
worth taking or if you have done
so, use your know-how to make
this wood into something gorgeous.
We have avocado to die
for. I took some home with me.
San Diego Woodturners Mentoring
I would like to introduce the newest Mentor Jack Boggio (760) 723-1952 located in
Fallbrook.
Jack is very accomplished turner and woodcarver. Our Mentors can work we any
level and provide one on one instruction. The main thing is to answer your questions
are answered. No matter what level from beginners to experienced turners our
mentors are here to provide help
Our mentoring program is a great way to learn and get free instruction. This program
gives the members an opportunity to share their particular skill or technique with
other members. Even our more experienced turners can learn a new skill from
other members. The program is also very beneficial to members who are new to
woodturning by providing one-on-one instruction in the basics of woodturning.
Instructional sessions are held at the mentoring member’s shop. You will find that these folks have very nice
shops with a good lathe and plenty of tools. Please call and make an appointment to insure a productive
session.
HOLLOW-PRO “ROCKET” Tools
blast the wood out of small hollow vessels!
Designed by professional woodturner Mike Jackofsky and manufactured in the USA by the Hunter Tool
Company, these tools feature a unique negative angle built into the tip. They have been specifically designed
to use the Hunter carbide cutters; the negative angle makes the carbide less aggressive and easier to control.
HOLLOW-PRO ROCKET tools are professional, fast and efficient hollowing tools for making hollow vessels
up to about 7" high x about 7" diameter. These 8" tools have 3/8" shafts to allow hollowing through very
small, restricted openings. The tools use replaceable #1 size carbide cutters and are designed to fit into any
large handle with a 3/8" or ½" opening. (Tip: place the screws from these handles on the side or top of the
tools, so the bottom will slide smoothly on the tool rest)
The round shafts of these tools can be rotated slightly to make clean “shear” cuts and the bent tool is also very
useful for undercutting the openings on larger hollow vessels.
Set of one straight and one bent tool includes replaceable Hunter #1 carbide cutters for clean cuts and durability,
and a Torx wrench for rotating and replacing the cutters as needed.
Notes On Use of Hollow-Pro Tools
STRAIGHT TOOL:
The Hollow-Pro Tools 3/8" ROCKET straight tool is a very versatile and efficient tool that can be used to
remove wood quickly and easily from hollow vessels and open bowls. It also works very well for hollowing
out boxes.
BENT TOOL:
The Hollow-Pro Tools 3/8" ROCKET bent tool was designed to hollow vessels up to about 7" in diameter,
but is also intended to be used on larger pieces as well. By using the smaller tool to undercut the first portion
of larger vessels the tool rest is closer, resulting in a cleaner cut and greater control. The larger Hollow-Pro
Tools bent tools can then be used to continue hollowing pieces up to about 14-15" diameter.
IMPORTANT: The tool rest height should be adjusted so that when the tool is held straight (parallel to the bed
of the lathe) the tip is cutting at the center line of the turning. For less aggressive cuts, raise the handle slightly.
Avoid lowering the handle, as that will raise the cutter tip and could result in a very aggressive angle of cut.
Mike recommends holding the handle against your body and practicing with the tools on an open bowl before
using them on a hollow vessel.
TIP: To avoid stripping out the Torx screws, make sure you clean them out before tightening or loosening
them, so the wrench can seat properly. An airgun and/or a sharp pointed object like a dental pick or a
safety pin, works well.
For more info e-mail Mike at: info@mikejackofsky.com or Visit Mike’s Web site: www.mikejackofsky.com
Please wear safety glasses and follow all safety rules of woodturning.
These tools are aggressive hollowing tools and should be used by or under the supervision of experienced turners.
HOLLOW-PRO Calipers
A. B. C.
These Hollow-Pro Calipers provide accurate measurements in crucial areas of hollow
vessels and open bowls.
A. Top wall—inside opening
B. Lower side wall
C. Bottom thickness—This is the important measurement to enable you to re-chuck the
bottom and KNOW how much wood you have to work with. This works equally well on
open bowls!
Hollow-Pro Calipers are precision made from steel and aluminum for maximum
strength while maintaining a comfortable light weight. The Small size
will work for hollow forms up to about 8" in diameter and up to 6 1/4" deep.
The Larger size works for hollow forms up to about 18" in diameter and up to
11 3/4" deep.
Empty Bowls
Each year potters, glass blowers and woodturners donate bowls to be part of a wonderful fundraiser to feed the
hungry. We are all fortunate to have enough to eat every day and we sometimes forget that there are people in
our own city who go hungry.
TACO (Third Avenue Charitable Organization) is a local organization running the San Diego version of the
national Empty Bowl initiative. At the event (in the spring) supporters pay $20 for a bowl of their choice and
some soup. The soup is donated by a number of really great restaurants. (The bowls don’t have to be used to
eat the soup).
In 2012, 600 people attended and many bought more than one bowl. The event raised over $15,000 to help
feed those in need.
I would like to collect bowls all year so that we have a nice selection to donate. Please bring your donations
to any meeting and I will keep them safe until it is time to pass them on for the event.
Thanks for your generosity.
As members of the San Diego
Wood Turners you might come across an opportunity for us to add to our wood inventory. The following
are among the types of wood we have an interest: olive, black acacia, fruit wood, ash, Norfolk Island Pine,
maple, walnut, liquid amber, alder, carob, eucalyptus, oak, avocado, and wood burl.
You might wonder about our guidelines for acquiring wood.
“Access” to the wood is important
“Chipping and/or hauling away material” are left to the owner of the property
“Wood” needs to be fallen and of manageable dimensions for transport
“Property lines and power lines” are respected
“Safety” is paramount and every effort is made to keep our volunteers safe
“Building relationships” and having a good time with other turners is important
If you hear of anyone needing
to move wood off their property
please give me a call.
Details on Membership and
Renewal
In order to be a member of
the San Diego Woodturners,
it is necessary for you to also
be a current member of AAW
(SDWT synchronizes renewal
to AAW). If you are a current
member of AAW and only need
to renew your SDWT membership,
read the section below “To
renew your SDWT membership
ONLY”.
To sign up or renew online
with AAW
Go to the AAW website, www.
woodturner.org, click on Join
AAW in the left margin, then select
either “New Member – Join
AAW” or “Previous or Current
Member – Renew” and follow
the instructions (you will need
your credit card).
To renew AAW and SDWT
For your convenience, SDWT
can handle AAW new and renewal
please allow 2 months before
your expiration date for SDWT
and AAW to process the paperwork
– we are all volunteers
and need the extra time. Bring
a check made out to SDWT to
the next meeting or mail it to the
P.O. Box (next paragraph) with
the correct amount (normally
$80 for general membership)
and we’ll do the rest.
