You are able to competitively apply for a £250 bursary from<br />
PME (one awarded per annum). Applications are by way of<br />
a 1000 word essay.<br />
The essay should describe:<br />
Your choice of elective<br />
What you hope to provide to the community you are<br />
attending<br />
What you hope to gain<br />
An outline of any projects you might be undertaking whilst<br />
on elective<br />
Clinical students at a UK medical school wishing to pursue a<br />
career in surgery and planning to undertake their elective<br />
attachment in 'Surgery in the Developing World' during the<br />
2011/<strong>2012</strong> academic year (July 2011 to August <strong>2012</strong>) are<br />
eligible to apply.<br />

Each award is worth up to £500 and at least four will be<br />
awarded.<br />
The Renal Association The Renal Association awards 8 bursaries each year of £250<br />
(each) to medical students undertaking electives which<br />
include a significant renal component, either clinical or<br />
research. We require an essay of around 2500 words<br />
describing your experience, and how the elective has added<br />
value to your work. We would like to receive the report<br />
within 3 months of your return from the elective.<br />

Royal College of<br />
Ophthalmologists<br />
Annual elective prize of £500 towards an elective in general<br />
practice. Open to all undergraduate medical students in<br />
the UK. Each Department of General Practice or Primary<br />
Care may submit the name of one student for<br />
consideration.<br />
Patrick Trevor-Roper Undergraduate Travel Award<br />
Applications are invited for this award in Ophthalmology,<br />
which is open to all undergraduate medical students from<br />
the UK and Eire only with an interest in the subspecialty.<br />
There are two awards to be made annually, each for the<br />
sum of £550. This money can be used to fund electives in<br />
Ophthalmology and may be spent on travelling or<br />
subsistence.<br />
