There are up to four scholarships of £500 available each year for successful applicants who should be in their clinical years. Their elective should be in an African church and/or mission hospital for a period of at least six weeks and should include some time studying eye diseases. Successful applicants may be asked to give a short talk at one of their regular meetings LEPRA provides funds for UK-based medical students wishing to undertake a leprosy assignment overseas. Those applying for the Medical Missionary Association HealthServe grants should be from medical, nursing and therapy schools in England and Wales. Where possible they should be going to a Christian mission type hospital (protestant) in a developing country situation and be committed Christians. Name of Institute / Bursary The Miss Ford Bursaries Obstetric Anaesthetists’ Association Oscar Reginald Lewis Wilson Bequest Bursary Information/ Project Area Application Forms Closing Date Submit to/Contact Six bursaries of £300 are awarded each year by competition. To aid medical students from Britain and France to spend elective attachments in establishments speaking each other’s languages and to build a database of information about such attachments as a resource for future students. During the elective abroad the students should execute a research protocol related to Obstetric Anaesthesia. They should be supported by an Anaesthetist who is member of the OAA. This bursary was established by a bequest from Dr Oscar Reginald Lewis Wilson OBE LRCP to support the education of medical students. Awards are made annually to students wishing to spend their elective period abroad. An additional prize worth £100 is awarded to the student who submits the best report on the elective period. In January each year, the Academic Registrar invites Deans of medical schools to nominate one student per school to be put forward for a scholarship. Proposals for work on research projects in any branch of pathology or for acquisition of experience in diagnostic departments are eligible for consideration.
