Allocations under <strong>the</strong> grant schemes for this year will be notified to local authorities as soon<br />

as possible after <strong>the</strong> publication <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> 2012 Revised Estimates for Public Services. Information<br />

on <strong>the</strong> status <strong>of</strong> applicants, including information relating to those in receipt <strong>of</strong> pensions, is not<br />

available in my Department.<br />

Local Authority Housing<br />

457. Deputy Brendan Ryan asked <strong>the</strong> Minister for <strong>the</strong> Environment, Community and Local<br />

Government <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> persons on housing waiting lists in each local authority in <strong>the</strong> State;<br />

on average <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> persons applying to be on <strong>the</strong> housing list every month; if this trend<br />

in increasing; and if he will make a statement on <strong>the</strong> matter. [8188/12]<br />

Minister <strong>of</strong> State at <strong>the</strong> Department <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Environment, Community and Local Government<br />

(Deputy Jan O’Sullivan): My Department does not hold information on <strong>the</strong> number <strong>of</strong> households<br />

on local authorities’ waiting lists. This figure continuously fluctuates as households are<br />

allocated housing and new households apply for housing support. Detailed information on <strong>the</strong><br />

latest statutory assessment <strong>of</strong> housing need carried out in March 2011, including a breakdown<br />

by housing authority, is available on my Department’s website — www.environ.ie or on <strong>the</strong><br />

Housing Agency’s website at www.housing.ie.<br />

Water and Sewerage Schemes<br />

458. Deputy Dan Neville asked <strong>the</strong> Minister for <strong>the</strong> Environment, Community and Local<br />

Government <strong>the</strong> position regarding <strong>the</strong> improvement project <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kilmallock town, County<br />

Limerick sewerage scheme. [8204/12]<br />

Minister for <strong>the</strong> Environment, Community and Local Government (Deputy Phil Hogan):<br />

The Water Services Investment Programme 2010-2012, a copy <strong>of</strong> which is available in <strong>the</strong><br />

<strong>Oireachtas</strong> Library, provides for <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> a comprehensive range <strong>of</strong> new water<br />

services infrastructure in County Limerick. The Programme includes contracts under construction<br />

and to commence to <strong>the</strong> value <strong>of</strong> some €29 million in <strong>the</strong> county during <strong>the</strong> life <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

Programme.<br />

The Kilmallock Sewerage Scheme, wastewater treatment plant (Design Build Operate) contract<br />

is included among <strong>the</strong> contracts to start during <strong>the</strong> period <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Programme at an estimated<br />

cost <strong>of</strong> €3.4 million. Limerick County Council’s recent request for confirmation that <strong>the</strong><br />

necessary funding is in place to allow <strong>the</strong>m accept <strong>the</strong> most economically advantageous tender<br />

for <strong>the</strong> contract is under examination in my Department. A decision will be conveyed to <strong>the</strong><br />

Council as soon as possible.<br />
