Corporate Strategic Sourcing (CSS)<br />
Corporate Strategic Sourcing (CSS) is responsible<br />
for preparation <strong>and</strong> implementation of global <strong>and</strong><br />
pan-European sourcing strategies <strong>and</strong> the coordination<br />
of purchases for <strong>Carlsberg</strong> in Denmark,<br />
<strong>Carlsberg</strong>-Tetley in the United Kingdom, Falcon in<br />
Sweden, Sinebrychoff in Finl<strong>and</strong>, Hannen in<br />
Germany, Okocim in Pol<strong>and</strong>, <strong>Carlsberg</strong> Italia in<br />
Italy <strong>and</strong> Unicer in Portugal. A number of breweries<br />
in Eastern Europe <strong>and</strong> Asia participate on an<br />
ad hoc basis. Each brewery operates as an<br />
independent business unit with due consideration<br />
to the strategies <strong>and</strong> goals set out by CSS for the<br />
relevant sourcing area.<br />
The purpose is to obtain competitive advantages<br />
through the introduction of effective purchasing<br />
procedures, for example through close<br />
co-operation with carefully chosen suppliers.<br />
An E-procurement pilot project has been<br />
launched <strong>and</strong> implemented. The project focuses<br />
on internal business procedures <strong>and</strong> st<strong>and</strong>ardisation<br />
of intra-organisational <strong>and</strong> divisional business<br />
routines <strong>and</strong> will exploit the new technology<br />
to automate <strong>and</strong> streamline purchases of nonstrategic<br />
products from a few, select suppliers.<br />
IT<br />
The <strong>Group</strong>’s IT-strategy, which is to ensure that all<br />
IT-solutions support the business development, is<br />
currently being implemented in a number of <strong>Group</strong><br />
companies. The IT-solutions must ensure simplification<br />
of the business model <strong>and</strong> boost the<br />
organisation’s competencies. The leading st<strong>and</strong>ard<br />
IT systems in the market, which are based on<br />
best-practice processes <strong>and</strong> contain state-of-theart<br />
functionalities, are used. ”The <strong>Carlsberg</strong> Way of<br />
doing E-Business” provides the general framework<br />
to support <strong>and</strong> expedite successful E-business<br />
initiatives in the <strong>Group</strong> companies. A number of<br />
pilot projects covering strategic E-procurement,<br />
E-learning <strong>and</strong> E-selling have already been<br />
launched in several <strong>Group</strong> companies. The <strong>Group</strong><br />
managements receive current, updated information<br />
on the development of E-business through<br />
the <strong>Group</strong>’s intranet, CCWeb, which is a tool for<br />
sharing of knowledge <strong>and</strong> competence development<br />
of <strong>Group</strong> employees within all business<br />
areas.<br />
Research <strong>and</strong> development<br />
Combio A/S is a new biotechnology company<br />
based on patented technology developed at the<br />
<strong>Carlsberg</strong> Laboratory.<br />
<strong>Carlsberg</strong> A/S, which is the largest, single<br />
shareholder, holding more than 33% of the share
