Fine weather, food and entertainment at<br />
the 1st annual <strong>Senior</strong>s Carnival<br />
<strong>Senior</strong>s Carnival, held in June, attracted happy participants from Kamloops and surrounding towns. Held on McArthur<br />
Island Park, the Carnival was located amongst mature trees which provided shade on the sunny day. A light balmy breeze<br />
provided refreshing cooling — it was the perfect day, the perfect place for a picnic!<br />
The Carnival, sponsored by Kamloops Park and Recreation, expecting 300, was overwhelmed when it attracted 500+.<br />
Nevertheless enough hamburgers and ice cream were brought in to satisfy the hungry crowd.<br />
The Old Time Fiddlers had people dancing and singing along with their listenable and toe-tapping music. Roxanne Hall<br />
encouraged those inclined to join her in her renditions of The Old Favourites. A Belly Dancer provided an eye-popping<br />
show of smooth interpretive dance routines. The nonstop entertainment was supplemented with roulette, bingo, and bocce.<br />
What a sight to see so many seniors out in the sun dancing, playing, singing, laughing, and catching up on the news of the<br />
day with new and old friends from far and wide. —Ben<br />
