FINANCIAL STATEMENTS YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2009 RTCA’s financial support is primarily derived from dues paid by its Members and International and Academic Associates; the sale of documents; investment income; and revenue from the annual Symposium and training initiative. The Board of Directors annually adopts the budget for the succeeding fiscal year and monitors performance against the approved budget. RTCA is a tax-exempt, not-for-profit organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, and is audited annually by an independent auditing firm. 2009 Financial Summary YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2009 RTCA, Inc. demonstrated sound fiscal management and accountability measures in 2009, as shown in the audit completed in May 2010 by Calibre CPA Group. Operating revenue exceeded expenditures by $24,000. This positive result was achieved through increased membership dues from the Federal Aviation Administration in the fourth quarter of 2009. Operating revenue totaled $1.96 million. RTCA, Inc. is a membership organization, with revenue from sources depicted in the figure below. Operating expenditures totaled $1.94 million as depicted in the figure below. In 2009, RTCA Inc.’s net assets increased 24%; this increase was attributable primarily (21%) to longterm investment activity. This year RTCA made great strides in solidifying our role as the most effective public-private forum for resolving key technical, policy and financial challenges to modernizing the air transportation system. We owe our success to our members and the volunteers who participate in our committee and task force groups.
