example, if an AlphaNumeric Field has size “8”, and we want to show the text “closed” we<br />
will need to fill it with the text between quotation marks “CLOSED ”, which is the word<br />
that we want, followed <strong>by</strong> 2 separate spaces;<br />
for Date Fields: left padded with ZEROs to fill the length of the field. For example, if a<br />
Date Field has size “8” and we want to show the date “6 June, 2010” we will need to fill it<br />
with the number between quotation marks “06062010”;<br />
unless specific instructions are given within the field in the attached tables.<br />
4.3.5 Non-mandatory fields<br />
If the Optional or Dependent fields are not filled out, they cannot be left “NULL”. Therefore the<br />
following characters must be used to fill the fields:<br />
for Numeric Fields: left padded with ZEROs to fill the length of the field. For example, if a<br />
Numeric Field has size “8” we will need to fill it with the number between quotation marks<br />
“00000000”;<br />
for Alphanumeric Fields: right padded with BLANKs to fill the length of the field. For<br />

quotation marks “ ”, which are 8 separate spaces;<br />
