and detection limits
• Micrometer controlled sample focus to optimize results for
every sample
• Large sample chamber accommodating optional heat
chambers for advanced sampling capability
• Macro control of data collection at user specified
temperatures or times
• High energy throughput providing nanogram sensitivity
• Precision sample slide for repeatable sample introduction
and efficient collection of background and sample spectra
• Unique sample preparation and loading kit with two
macro cups, two micro cups, KBr powder, spatulas and
necessary tools
• Unique abrasion sampling kit with heavy duty sampling tool
and sample support, SiC and diamond abrasion disks for
sampling intractable solids
• Sealed and purgeable optical design to eliminate water
vapor and carbon dioxide interference
The PIKE Technologies DiffusIR is a high performance diffuse
reflectance accessory for the analysis of powdered samples and
intractable solids. Most samples are diluted to about 1% in KBr
prior to analysis. Other powdered samples, where one looks for
minor components (cement, coal, or soil samples), are often run
neat. The accessory features large, high efficiency, downwardlooking
optics. Its advantages include high throughput, constant
optical path with all mirrors positioned above the sampling area.
This is a significant design feature which protects all the optical
components of the accessory against spills and corrosion often
caused by KBr/sample mixes. It also makes cleanup much easier,
as accidental spills can be simply swept out of the bottom of the
accessory with a soft brush.
The large, efficient
optical design of the
DiffusIR accommodates
the optional
PIKE Technologies
Heat Chambers for
studying the effects
of temperature, reaction
mechanisms and
catalysts. The optional
heat chambers are
easily inserted and
removed using push lock pins for toolless insertion and removal of
samples. PIKE Technologies heat chambers are available in 500 °C
and 900 °C versions. An optional high pressure adaption enables
pressurized measurements to 1,500 psi. The front panel of the
DiffusIR is easily changed to accommodate standard sampling
cups or the pinned position heated chambers.
PIKE Technologies TempPRO software provides a graphical
user interface for the advanced digital version of the temperature
controllers for the optional heated chambers. Experiments can
be automated to provide data collection at specified temperature
or time.
The DiffusIR optical design is optimized to efficiently collect
diffuse radiation generated from the sample and minimize the
effects of the specular radiation component.
