INSTALLATION 1 Place GTEC Acoustic Floor Clip over joist and hold against the joist side. Secure by driving the serrated edge of the clip into the top of the joist with a hammer. Space clips at maximum 400mm centres on either side of the joist, except at the perimeter, where clips should be fixed at 400mm centres on the open side only. 2 Lay GTEC Metal Angle with the short leg into the clips. GTEC Metal Angle joins should be kept to a minimum. Where the joins occur, butt joint and support ends with a GTEC Acoustic Floor Clip. 3 Cut lengths of GTEC 19mm Plank 4mm shorter than the space between the joists ensuring you keep both bound edges intact. Maintaining an even gap between plank and joist place the GTEC Plank on the GTEC Metal Angle supports. 52 THE INSTALLATION HANDBOOK 2008
4 Fix self adhesive GTEC Resilient Tape along the length of each joist over the GTEC Acoustic Floor Clips and along intermediate full depth and perimeter noggings. 5 Lay the flooring across the joists at right angles. Tongue-and-Groove chipboard edges must be glued with PVA wood glue. Leave a 3mm gap between flooring and the perimeter wall and seal the gap with GTEC Intumescent Acoustic Sealant before skirtings are fitted. Screw-fix through the flooring and GTEC Plank into the GTEC Metal Angle either side of each joist using 63mm GTEC Acoustic Floor screws at a maximum of 300mm centres ensuring that the fixings do not penetrate the floor joist. 6 <strong>The</strong> screws, when screwed home and countersunk, pull the GTEC Metal Angles out of the clips to clamp the GTEC Plank to the underside of the flooring and create a completely free-floating floor supported on the GTEC Resilient Tape.
