THE GIFT
Becoming a Nation is an honor. I have themed my Nation orchid in honor of
my special cousin, JoAnne Silverman, who always taught me to love unconditionally,
not take myself too seriously and to follow my heart and dreams.
JoAnne was a talented ceramic artist and her specialty was orchids. Sadly,
she lost her battle with ovarian cancer; however, her lessons of love and life
live on in the hearts of her family, friends and students.
When I first began my Arbonne journey I never dreamed I would build a
Nation. I just wanted to have the potential to match my corporate salary, be
home with my daughter and drive that white Mercedes-Benz. My story is not
one of “overnight success;” instead it is a journey of perseverance, personal
growth and belief. I was in the right place with the right company.
I am a busy mother of four children, ages, 5, 7, 10 and 14. My husband,
Steven, travels extensively and it has not been easy juggling a large family,
home and business. Some days it seemed like all I did was drive my kids
around. I kept thinking of ENVP Cecilia Stoll’s saying, “No matter what.” I
would put movies on for my kids so I could make conference calls, earn every
trip, attend every meeting within a three-hour drive and never give up, no matter
how many people said “no,” canceled a Presentation, did not return my
phone calls, lost their sample pack or were not interested in the business. I
knew they were not going to put my kids through college, send them to camp,
pay my bills or send me on vacation. Arbonne had the potential to help do all
of that. I knew “no” just meant they did not “know” what Arbonne really had
to offer, because if they did, they would be banging my door down to join us.
I would often think of the lessons one of my favorite motivational authors teaches.
He asks you to visualize yourself in a rocking chair, rocking forward to your
75 th birthday and looking back on your life. He suggests you first rock forward
envisioning your life, as it would be if you did not pursue your dreams, and
then again if you accomplished everything you set out to do. It is painful to think
of a future I did not give my goals and dreams my best effort to.
It is powerful to think of the legacy I will some day leave for my future grandchildren
because of the lessons I am teaching my children — that mom can be
home, around when needed and still run a potentially lucrative business from
home. And, they can have those choices when they grow up, too. I am especially
proud of the gifts I give my daughters, Rachel and Teddy, teaching them
that as women, they do not have to choose to be away from their future fami-
lies for a job. You can have it all with Arbonne. I know I give my sons, Josh and
Noah, the gift of knowing women and mothers can take care of their children
and still be strong and talented businesswomen. I know for my children, much
more is taught by my example and actions, as they have watched me work and
know I drop everything when they need me. I am so grateful when the school
calls and my kids need something, I am able to help them. Sometimes, I think,
“What if I could not go right now; what if I was stuck in the city in a meeting”
The day we became a Nation, I answered the door to face my daughter,
Rachel, with a big smile — she picked me up off the ground, twirled me around
and said, “You did it mommy, you did it, you’re an NVP!” Money cannot buy
that, and I know she will always remember that moment in her own life. I know
I will. It made every “no” I heard worth it. Do not let fear stand in your way, go
for it, I promise it is worth it!
Whenever I have doubts or hear that fear-filled voice in my head, I think, “What
if I don’t call this person, ask for that Presentation, talk to this stranger, hand out
my card or get her phone number What if I don’t and this is my next RVP or
NVP What if I don’t and I could change this person’s life forever What if I
don’t and I am supposed to” I always come from a place of contribution to others.
It is not about me, it is about how I can change and improve the life of the
person right in front of me. I believe all of us are here to leave the world a better
place. I have chosen to do that by sharing the “gift” of Arbonne.
me we had made it), he said, “Jamie, because of you and Arbonne, you
changed our future forever. We will never need to touch our retirement money.
Thank you.”
It is important to remember it does not matter who believes in you as long as
you believe in you. People ask me all the time how that “Arbonne thing” is
going, and I just smile, point to the beautiful, white Mercedes-Benz in the parking
lot and say, “Amazing.”
There are so many people to thank. First I want to thank Founder Petter Mørck
for creating Arbonne because without his dream none of us would be here. To
President Rita Davenport: You are the guiding light and spirit of Arbonne,
always shining so brightly. I love you! To Sr. VP Product Development &
Marketing, Candace Keefe: Your story of success always inspires me. We are
all so lucky to have you. To Executive Vice President Stian Mørck: Thank you
for continuing the vision of your father. To the VP Support staff: You are awesome;
what an honor it is to work with all of you.
I am eternally grateful for my dear friend, ENVP Donna Weiser, and her husband,
Ted, whose friendship has been a gift beyond value. Donna took me
Jamie with AM Cynde Hoffman.
continued ...
I want you to know when I began, many people did not believe in me or this
“Arbonne thing.” My husband, Steven, is a successful attorney and was not sure
this was a real business. For many men, they only start to understand this business
when your paychecks have some zeros at the end of them! After we completed
Nation (it was Steven who was tracking the numbers and called to tell
success strategy:
“
Re-program yourself daily for
prosperity, fearlessness, good
”
health and massive success.

Jamie’s team at NTC 2005 Las Vegas.
under her wing and into her heart. ENVP Nancy Wilcox also opened her
heart to me and shared some very powerful words of advice when I
asked what I needed to do to get to Nation. She told me to, “Get back
in the game.” To ENVP Beverly Lambert: Thank you for sticking with me
on this journey.
To ENVP Dawn Frank: You always treated me like a leader; thank you. To
my Arbonne angel, ENVP Kathy Lutz: Thank you for your guiding spirit,
willingness to come to Chicago to train our team and your belief in me. To
my dear friends in Oklahoma, ENVPs Martha McIntyre, Carleeta Nelson
and Jackie Mammen: You are wonderful role models for all of us.
Building and becoming a Nation is about personal growth and holding
that vision for your team. I remember seeing ENVP Donna Johnson receive
an award, and as she stood on stage, she said, “Donna did not do this,
the Spirit Wings Nation did.” I truly appreciate her words. That is how I
feel. Becoming an NVP is a direct result of the dedicated efforts of each
and every member of our team.
I am incredibly blessed to have so many amazing women and men as business
partners and friends. To RVP Anna Ackerman: You are truly amazing.
Your work ethic, focus, determination and willingness to do “whatever it
takes” empower all of us. You and your entire family are a blessing in my
life! To our AM team, Ellen Antman, Cynde Hoffman, Mary Beth Thornton,
Jodie Stellern, Holly Israel, Sue Ekl, Cathy Kaufman, Karen Bressman,
Mardi Meyers, Jessica Vayner and Frank Minniti: Thank you; you are next!
Jamie’s team at the Annual Arbonne Test Drive a Mercedes Day.
Jamie with ENVP Donna Weiser.
You will all be getting your white Mercedes-Benzes very soon. To our DMs
and Consultants: You are so very important to me. I appreciate each and
every one of you and am honored to help guide you to your dreams. To all
of our Clients: Thanks for spreading the word about Arbonne and the
NutriMinC ® RE 9 skin care line to your family and friends.
I want to thank my parents for the gift of character they gave me. To my
dad, who gave me my entrepreneurial spirit, and my mom, who gave me
my strength and determination: The apple does not fall far from the tree.
To our four children, Rachel, Teddy, Josh and Noah: Thank you for blessing
our lives and for taking care of daddy when he thought he was taking
care of you! I love you.
To my husband, Steven: Thank you for your countless hours of computer
and editing skills, support with our children and for being my best friend. I
love you.
Arbonne is a blessing and gift I am grateful to be a part of every day. I wish
for all of you to come to know these blessings and continue to share the gift,
because doing so will take you right to your dreams!
