awakening, <strong>on</strong>ly he as <strong>the</strong> witness of <strong>the</strong> dream exists.<br />

Thus <strong>the</strong> world and all those in it are seen simply as <strong>the</strong><br />

projecti<strong>on</strong> of a single being animating a single body. In this<br />

c<strong>on</strong>cepti<strong>on</strong> <strong>the</strong>re is no distincti<strong>on</strong> between <strong>the</strong> liberated and <strong>the</strong><br />

bound souls, since all o<strong>the</strong>rs are no more than imaginary<br />

creati<strong>on</strong>s of <strong>the</strong> mind.<br />

Some<strong>on</strong>e who c<strong>on</strong>siders that <strong>the</strong>re is <strong>on</strong>ly <strong>on</strong>e single j⁄va (or<br />

sentient being) in existence is known as an eka-j⁄va-vådin (ekajeeva-vaadin).<br />

The opposite view is that of aneka-j⁄va<br />
