Follow-Up<br />

Follow-up for patients with HL<br />

<strong>and</strong> aggressive NHL<br />

At completi<strong>on</strong> <strong>of</strong> treatment <strong>and</strong> restaging evaluati<strong>on</strong>, c<strong>on</strong>sider<br />

giving each patient an informati<strong>on</strong> sheet stressing the<br />

importance <strong>of</strong> new symptoms.<br />

Clinic Visits<br />

See recommendati<strong>on</strong>s for individual diseases<br />

At each visit<br />

■ Ask about new symptoms<br />

■ Examine for lymphadenopathy, hepatomegaly,<br />

splenomegaly, abdominal masses<br />

■<br />

■<br />

Reinforce advice about smoking cessati<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

avoiding sunburn<br />

Encourage patients to make an earlier appointment<br />

Investigati<strong>on</strong>s<br />

■ Blood count <strong>and</strong> chemistry (to include LDH) at each visit<br />

■<br />

■<br />

Thyroid functi<strong>on</strong> tests annually from year 3 after previous<br />

radiotherapy to mediastinum/neck.<br />

Chest X-Ray at alternate visits in years 1 <strong>and</strong> 2, then annually<br />

to year 5 (if mediastinal, lung or pleural disease at<br />

presentati<strong>on</strong> <strong>and</strong> complete remissi<strong>on</strong> at end <strong>of</strong> treatment)<br />

All other investigati<strong>on</strong>s should be arranged in resp<strong>on</strong>se to new<br />

symptoms / signs <strong>of</strong> disease, abnormal results from the above<br />

investigati<strong>on</strong>s or in the c<strong>on</strong>text <strong>of</strong> clinical trial protocols.<br />

Follow-up for patients with indolent NHL<br />

Clinic Visits<br />

■ 3-m<strong>on</strong>thly in year 1<br />

■ 4-m<strong>on</strong>thly in year 2<br />

■ 6-m<strong>on</strong>thly in year 3<br />
