Kadena Unaccompanied Housing must immediately fill four vacant staff sergeant Airmen Dorm Leaders and
Furnishing Management Operations positions. Applicants must possess ranks of staff sergeant, have a minimum of
one year experience as a supervisor, possess leadership and mentorship capability, and not have any record of
emotional instability, disciplinary actions, or financial irresponsibility. Applicants must possess ability to speak

distinctly and to all levels of rank, possess high standards of military appearance and conduct, have knowledge of
Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, supply, accounting, facility maintenance procedures and management of personnel.
You must have nine months remaining on your DEROS and not receiving payment from an SRB. This is a two-year
controlled non-deployable tour.

Dragon Boat Race practices
Practices have started for men and women interested in being a part of the Kadena Shogun Dragon Boat Race team
for the May 5th Naha Dragon Boat Race. Those interested in participating are encouraged to attend practices at the
Risner track Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6-6:45 a.m. or 5:30-6:15 p.m. and at Fairchild Pool Tuesday and
Thursday from 5:30-6:30 p.m. or 6:30-7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 9-10 a.m. or 10-11 a.m. for rowing practice.
Team members must be Air Force active duty, guard, or reserve members, Department of Defense civilian
employees or SOFA status family members 18 years of age and older.

USO parking lot closure
The Kadena USO, building 337 by Gate 2, parking lot will be closing for our annual Easter event. The closure will
begin April 5 at 5 p.m. and will remain in effect until April 8 at 8 a.m. Please ensure all vehicles are removed from the
parking lot prior to April 5.

Elevator outage
The following elevators will be closed to the public for on-going renovation projects. We appreciate your patience
while we bring these 30-year-old elevators back into good working order. Notices will be posted in each tower to
remind residents.
Building 4513, passenger elevator, Camp Courtney, closed March 6 to April 6.
Building 847, freight elevator, Camp Kinser, closed Feb. 27 to April 9.
Building 859, freight elevator, Camp Kinser, closed March 13 to April 6.
Building 1086, passenger elevator, Camp Kinser, closed March 22 to April 13.
Building 376, passenger elevator, Camp Foster, closed Feb. 24 to April 6.
Building 377, freight elevator, Camp Foster, closed Feb. 21 to April 6.
Limited dehumidifiers for issue
The Family Housing Appliance Repair Shop, building 54410 near Camp Shields, has a limited number of
dehumidifiers to issue on a first come, first serve basis for on-base members who live in a tower unit or a unit that is
connected to a chiller plant. Only one dehumidifier will be issued per customer and it must be returned to the
Appliance Repair Shop prior to PCS.

HAWC classes
The Health and Wellness Center has Tobacco Cessation classes every Monday, except holidays, at 11:30 a.m. and
3:30 p.m. If you're unable to attend the class there is an online course at www.ucanquit2.org, Just bring the certificate
to HAWC personnel at building 428.
The first and third Tuesdays of the month we have our Watch our Weight meetings at noon and 5:30 p.m. This is a
Weight watchers type group designed to provide tips on weight loss and basic nutrition.
Also, March 31 there will be a HAWC hike, everyone will meet at building 428 at 9:30 a.m. Call 634-2499 for more

AF Form 63 notifications
Effective immediately, Air Force Personnel Center will no longer forward the Air Force Form 63 notification to the
member's servicing Military Personnel Section, nor will the MPS be responsible for returning the completed Air Force
Form 63 back to AFPC. The Total Force Service Center will contact affected members directly through e-mail, which
will include a link to the Air Force Personnel website along with instructions regarding Air Force Form 63 completion
and submission.
Airmen may still seek assistance through the local MPS and/or AFPC Active Duty Service Commitment Policy,
afpc.dpsipadscpolicy@us.af.mil for ADSC policy questions.
Postal advisory
There are a number of restrictions on mailable items to Japan. Here are some restricted items frequently detected by
Japanese Custom Officials: Fresh fruits, vegetables, meat products, unless accompanied by an inspection certificate
issued by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and pornographic materials.

Online test schedule disabled in AFAEMS
We are still experiencing difficulty with online Professional Military Education and Defense Language Proficiency Test
scheduling. This feature has been disabled until further notice.
Please call the Kadena Education Center at 634-1500, Option 1 Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., to schedule
your PME or DLPT exam.

March 30
Women’s History Month business networking event
The Women’s History Month Committee is seeking women-owned and/or operated businesses (sales, fitness,
consulting etc. to include home-based) to be a part of The Bonnie Marcus Entrepreneur Fair March 30 at the Kadena
USO from 5-8 p.m. This will be a social and networking event for women business owners to promote their business,
sell their product and gain/share further ideas and knowledge regarding running their business.

Women’s Heritage Month Luncheon
The 18th Maintenance Group is hosting this year's Women’s Heritage Month Luncheon. It will be at the Kadena
Officer's Club March 30 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Keynote speaker is Nashawn Turner of Uniquely Designed
Coaching. The cost of the meal is $9.95 (daily lunch buffet) to be paid at the door.
IPE limited customer support
The 18th Logistics Readiness Squadron Individual Protective Equipment section will be minimally manned March 30
from noon to 2:30 p.m. for an official function. We will only be able to provide limited customer support. Please make
proper arrangements beforehand.

College Knowledge Night
Parents and teens, come out to the College Knowledge Night to get the scoop on the college experience. Parents,
find out what it takes to get your teen to college, and how to pay for it once they are there. Teens, ever wonder what
college life is really like Come out to College Knowledge Night and find out. We will have guest speakers addressing
these and all your other college questions. Dinner will be provided and the event is free for all high school students
and their parents. This event will be held in the Kadena High School cafeteria March 29 from 5-7:30 p.m.

OESC Easter Egg Hunt

There will be an Easter egg hunt at Torii Beach, Pavilion 5 March 31 from noon-3 p.m. The Easter Bunny will be
there, along with bouncy houses, food and prizes.

Kadena March for Babies
The 2012 March of Dimes March for Babies begins at 10 a.m. March 31 at the Risner Fitness Center on Kadena.
Participants can register online by going to www.marchforbabies.org, select "find an event," choose "Illinois" and then
pick "Okinawa." Registration will also be available at the Risner at 9 a.m. There are two routes for the march; one is
two miles and one is four miles. More than 1,300 participants have registered and organizers are looking for more!
Event organizers are also asking for volunteers for the event. Volunteers are asked to meet behind the fitness center

This event is a fundraiser for the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes mission is to raise awareness for birth defects,
premature birth, maternal education and newborn health.
April 4
Kadena Integrated Service Delivery
The Kadena Integrated Service Delivery team is planning the 2012 Caring for People Forum and we need you to
make it a success. It will be held April 4 from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at building 59.
We’re looking for military members, civilians, spouses and retirees to join discussion groups organized to hear issues
or concerns important to you. If you have an idea on a policy item that could be changed or a quality of life service
that could be improved upon either on Kadena or in the Air Force in general — this is your opportunity to share! All
base-level issues identified will be assigned a tracking number and resolved through the Community Action
Information Board and Integrated Delivery System.
The top issues requiring higher level resolution will be prioritized and forwarded for major command-level and
potentially Air Force-level review in similar Caring for People Forums. The working group topics for this year’s forum
are Family Support, Housing Support, Spouse Communications, School Support, Health and Wellness, Single
Airman Support, Special Needs Family Members, and Deployment Support.

Forum working groups will be facilitated by trained facilitators. Discussions will be open and you are encouraged to
bring your ideas about improving Air Force quality of life programs and activities for all Airmen and their family

Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Committee meeting
The month of May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. The planning committee for the month-long awareness
will meet from 4:30-5 p.m. beginning April 4 in building 99, the 18th Mission Support Group, in the conference room.

Jewish Passover Seder
The Jewish Community of Okinawa invites you to their annual community Passover Seder April 6 at 6 p.m. at the
Kadena Officer's Club. Cost for the meal is $28 for adults and $14 for children under six. There is no charge for
Jewish military members.

Protestant Seder Passover dinner will be April 7 at the Kadena Officers Club at 6 p.m. Limited tickets available for

Annual Rescue Fest
The 31st Rescue Squadron welcomes all Department of Defense personnel and SOFA family members island-wide
for our third annual Rescue Fest. This family-friendly, interactive event will take place April 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at
building 3490. The 31st Rescue Squadron invites everyone to watch and experience our squadron mission.
In addition to static displays of vehicles and equipment, we will have multiple demonstrations, including a live
pararescue team insertion by helicopter, a vehicle extrication using the Jaws of Life and other tools, and a high angle
rope rescue from our indoor climbing wall. We'll also have everyone's favorite, survival camp. Children of all ages can
put on camouflage face paint and practice signaling aircraft and building survival shelters. Also, try your hand at the
virtual reality parachute simulator. Lastly, adults and children ages six and older will be able to climb our 40 foot
climbing wall. If you would like to climb the wall, please dress appropriately, to include closed toe shoes. We will also
host an Easter egg hunt at 1:30 p.m.
Come out and see what the 31st Rescue Squadron is all about. If you're not having fun, you're not trying!

Kadena USO Easter Egg Hunt
Kadena USO is having an Easter Egg Hunt April 8 from noon to 5 p.m. The event will be located at the USO (near
Gate 2) in the parking lot and the grassy area adjacent to the building. The event will feature a free Easter Egg Hunt
for children under 10 years old, divided into age groups. The event will also feature bounce houses for a small fee,
food vendors, a DJ, face painting, and pictures with the Easter bunny. The parking lot to the USO will be closed due
to the event so please arrive early and find an alternate location to park.

Child Abuse/Sexual Assault Awareness 5k
There will be a Child Abuse/Sexual Assault Awareness 5k April 13. Registration will begin at 5:30 a.m. in the parking
lot of the Risner Fitness Center. Run begins at 6:30 a.m. Please wear blue or teal. The run is free, but donations are
much appreciated and will be divided for the family advocacy and Sexual Assault Prevention and Response office.

Join us April 17 as we recognize our outstanding volunteers! Celebrate the contributions all of Kadena's volunteers

The Wing commander and command chief will recognize Kadena's active duty, civilian, active duty spouse, retiree,
youth, Okinawan and unit volunteers at this ceremony.

Now is the time to start building your car and getting donations for Derby Day 2012! Do you have what it takes to be

ACE CLEP-a-thon
Airmen Committed to Excellence is in need of CLEP/DANTES instructors with a minimum of a Community College of
the Air Force degree or higher to instruct classes for a CLEP-a-thon.
Instructors will be required to plan the curriculum geared towards one of the following CLEP/DANTES tests: English,
math, social sciences, speech and management. Past instructors have used practice tests in books from the library
and tests downloaded from Petersons.com/airforce. Instructors will also be required to find their own classroom, but if
one can’t be found, ACE will help in providing a room.
The CLEP-a-thon will run from April 9 through May 6, and will be at least two days a week for a minimum of one hour
each session. More days or time is allowed if the class agrees on first day, but the classes will be advertised as
previously stated. If interested and know of a conference room that can potentially be borrowed after duty hours
please let ACE know.
Potential future CCAF graduates, if you are interested in signing up for one of these classes please provide your
name, e-mail, phone number (duty or cell), and CLEP/DANTES subject(s) needed.

Kadena Youth Sports and Fitness is looking for volunteers to assist with their Month of the Military Child Family Fun
