Service Description: Burnett Mary<br />

<strong>Regional</strong> Group (BMRG) is one of<br />

fifteen non-government, <strong>community</strong><br />

based Natural Resource Management<br />

(NRM) groups in Queensland. The<br />

<strong>Regional</strong> Groups were formed to<br />

support the delivery of the National<br />

Action Plan for Salinity and Water<br />

Quality (NAP) and the Natural<br />

Heritage Trust (the Trust). The BMRG<br />

will build regional partnerships to<br />

progress sustainable NRM initiatives<br />

to ensure the social and economic<br />

growth of our region over the long<br />

term. These initiatives will bring<br />

together government, industry and<br />

<strong>community</strong> to address problems such<br />

as salinity, water quality, biodiversity<br />

and coastal and marine management<br />

in the Burnett Mary Region. Our<br />

region includes all of the catchments<br />

from the Baffle Creek to the Mary<br />

River, shires from the Continental<br />

Divide (eg Chinchilla) to the coast,<br />

Fraser Island World Heritage Area<br />

and the Great Sandy Straits RAMSAR<br />

area. The organisation also has a<br />

large resource library available for the<br />

use of our members with information<br />

related to natural resource<br />

management – including biodiversity,<br />

salinity, land use management, water<br />

quality and pest management/weeds.<br />
