parenting techniques, linking
into other community services,
mentoring service, individual and
group activities, practical hands-on
approach to parenting. A drop-in

Service Description: In-Home
Care Wide Bay is a not-for-profit,
community based service providing
professional, flexible childcare in the
family home to families whose care
needs cannot be met by mainstream
services. It is funded by the Federal
Government and families are eligible
to apply for the Child Care Benefit.
In-Home Child Care Wide Bay
provides care for children in their
own home by approved carers.
This enables children to experience
stability and security in their familiar
family environment. Care is available
for children from 0 to 16 years of age.
The family meets one or more of the
following criteria:
• the child has, or lives with another
child who has an illness or a
disability;
• the child’s guardian (or guardian’s
partner) has an illness or disability
that affects their ability to care for
the child;
• the child lives in a rural or remote
area;
• the work hours of the child’s
guardian (or guardian’s partner)
are hours when no other approved
child care service is available;
• the child’s guardian (or guardian’s
partner) is caring for three or more
children who have not yet started
