Donor Story A family’s love of farming... gives back to a community in need. Huntingburg Arbor Endowment Fund Purpose: To support the cause of urban arbor and trees in the City of Huntingburg. Huntingburg Elementary PTO Endowment Purpose: To support the Huntinburg Elem School playground. Friends of Raider Field Endowment Fund Purpose: To support the replacement, maintenance and enhancement of Raider Field. Huntingburg Little League Endowment Fund Purpose: To support the Huntingburg Little League DC Multisport Endowment Purpose: To support DC Multisport to build a vibrant, well-connected fitness community in Dubois County. Marianne C. Fritch Endowment Purpose: To support the Memorial Hospital Volunteer program LeRoy C. McKittrick Boy Scouts Troop 188 Endowment Fund Purpose: To support Boy Scouts Troop 186, Ferdinand. Erin Julian Memorial Endowment Fund Purpose: To support a variety of charitable causes. 2 Ray and Clarissa Hochgesang Family Endowment Established May 10, 2013 For Kathy Fuhs and her family, farming is not simply an occupation, but a way of life. After the passing of her parents, Kathy decided to celebrate their memory through the creation of an endowment with the Community Foundation. Her parents’ love of farming, which had always “put food on the table” for their family, inspired Kathy to set up the Ray and Clarissa Hochgesang Endowment. The fund commemorates their lives by supporting the local food bank, ultimately putting food on the tables of those in need. Now, every year, the family’s legacy will be carried out through contributions to the Community Food bank in Jasper, and countless local families will benefit from this heart-felt contribution. 2012-2013 New Endowments Established Kamp 4 Kids Endowment To support the Kamp 4 Kids program of the Park and Rec Dept, Jasper. Hoosier Hills Credit Union Endowment Purpose: To support the local education programs directed by the Board of Directors of the Community Foundation. Michael W. and Nancy A. Kluesner Endowment Purpose: To support a variety of charitable causes. Randy Norris Mind, Body, Spirit Endowment Purpose: To support Mentors of Youth for Dubois County, Christian Church of Jasper, Jasper Youth Sports & other charities identified by the donor. A Word from our Grants Committee The 2013 Competitive Grantmaking process will award $90,000 to local non-profits. This is the largest total to date that will be awarded. General Grantmaking is underway! applicants have never submitted a grant application before. The applicants have requested grant amounts totaling $225,000. Good luck to all thirtythree applicants! The first step, the preliminary application, was due July 1, and thirty-three nonprofit organizations submitted compelling grant requests. It is exciting to note that the Community Foundation is reaching out to all of Dubois County as one-third of these The Grant Committee now has a tough task to discern which of these thirty-three applicants will be asked to complete the second step of the process.
